Hey, speaking of wives and partners, they’re not always the sharpest knives in the drawer. Mine in middle 90’s decided she wanted #white carpet3 cords huh? Sure I think most homeowners wouldn't mind a little hopscotch over black spaghetti.
My wife would toss you out on your ass and deservedly so. That's just not professional on ANY level.
I hope if any of you fool's are doing this that you at least...at the very least part that unit outside the living space. Otherwise all that crap you are sucking is being mixed with humidity and belched out into the living space.
Not only is the breathing environment grossly changed but the humidity added will hamper drying.
Guys guys GUYS do yourself and mostly your clients, give them a number to someone with a TM. You'll sleep better at night!

24 gallons for the big one, 12 for the center, the other is just a vacuum tank. Pressure is 500 psi at 1.5 GPM.(tested) lift is aprox 10 inches hg.(also tested) true CFM is unknown but if I use the specs for the vac motors like everybody else, it's about 200 CFM. I have tested the amperage draw with a clamp meter and the draw on one cord is 12 amps and on the other, just under 15 amps. The rated amperage of the individual components is higher but that's what it takes in real life. If I had more money, I would be testing the 6.6 and the 8.4 motors. In theory they don't take any more amperage than my 5.7's.

I can run my set up Air hog dual vac on two 15 amp circuits. That's 1 3 stage 5.7 per cord. I also have an apo sharing a circuit with one vac and a 3.5 gpm pump out. I have a bunch of options with a 3rd circuit I can add my hot turbo. Or a booster. I don't bring my machine in the house ever. I always set up outside or in a garage. It just makes sense, On most jobs I do 99% residential track homes over and over. Mostly homes 1500-3000 sq ft. I rarely use more than 75 feet of hose. So obviously the market matters. I'm expanding my business towards more upscale and larger homes...I hope to outgrow my porty and buy a decent low mileage van with a 370 or similar. the porty will be my more than capable backup. So many want top steer this sort of conversation into let me bash your aspirations with I have a truckmount so of course I'm the winner...All nonsense and pretty chicken shit to go for the low hanging fruit.
A porty guy can't win the argument but that doesn't mean he's not a better cleaner either.
Face the facts if you have a multi truck operation how good are your techs when you aren't around?
I've been in this business for a long time mostly as an employee unfortunately. That said it's 10 times worse if you ask people that learned on a truckmount to use a porty. It's easy as hell to get spoiled if you start off with a truckmount. I get it, the machines are different than the old ones we used 20-30 years ago. If it's been a long time since you used a porty or only use it rarely the whole setup thing will be inefficient and frustrating. If finding two 15 amp circuits, maybe a 20 on some models. You will never be won over. For the rest of us it's far easier, I think guys that are trained with a porty are better cleaners in general than those that learned on truckmounts only. A truckmount can get by just fine on many jobs without agitation. A porty guy has to be better at pre spotting and add agitation. Lots of truckmount guys will skip that trip back to the truck and give it an extra pass or two and call it a permanent condition.

No doubt many porty guys can out clean truck mount guys. It comes down to costs and ease of set up. Fastest set up for houses is a truck mount with its own on board fresh water tank. It just difficult to start out with such a disadvantage. You are behind the TM operator before you even hit the switch.
I suppose you might be able to clean as well but I question how many would go to that much extra effort. Time is not on the side of a porty operator. The more effort you put in, the more time takes, the less you make.
It's an uphill battle.
