Holy Hell!!! It absolutely kills me when I see facebook and youtube videos of guys that post about carpet cleaning and their wand stroke is all over the place. Does this bother any of you or is it just me???? It makes it even worse when you see they have a nice van setup, they vac, scrub with a crb and then they bring out the wand and start cleaning and BAM the train just derailed!!!

I've thought this for a while. Gets frustrating when guys talk about production rates they get and make me feel soooooo slow.

Proper overlapping wand strokes at a proper pace can only get so much done per hour.

My biggest bitch really is about the crazy wand strokes I see. How can you properly clean/rinse the carpet when you never let off the trigger and your stroke is all over the place.

I agree 100%. What I am seeing in these videos is guys spraying up at a angle, coming down at a angle and then spraying back up at a angle. So your spraying water back down on a area you just cleaned.

I clean on a straight backstroke
Sawtooth over (dry) to the next backstroke..................overlapping a bit
clean straight backstroke
repeat until row is finished

sawtooth drystroke back over row....start next row


any other way is wrong..... I don't care what any of you say

You're wrong, you fooking hack who can't see straight. Who wants to see those saw tooth marks. It means you're not extracting enough. Up and down over the exact same area. Not does it look better but you've removed more moisture. You know better Fred.

So that way assuming jets are all the same you double rinse two strips of 4" and leave a single rinsed 4" strip in the centre. Now that could make for a nice pattern, with uneven drying and wick'back:headscratch:
We overlap by just a smidgeon and lift the wand for the next pass when doing domestics. On commercial different story as they are usually low pile synthetics that don't hold a wand mark much

That doesn't make any sense at all. If we overlap by a third, the carpet gets flushed 3 times.

I have two different strokes that I use. One is just like Fred C’s. The other is probably not interesting enough to try and explain.
