from your hack competitors.

lets assume you already got your foot in the door and either got the job or are providing a free demo.

Dirty and Abused Olefin and Nylon Glue downs.

Cleaning Step One.
Pre vac the hell out of all areas. Pay attention to entry areas, pivot points and around plastic chair runners.
and get up the cob webs paper clips and dingle berry from under the computer cords and cables.

Two.
Pre spray with a well formulated juice that contains a degreaser and some peroxide. Don't soak the carpet two light passes with a HF will do. and scrub it in with a broken in REd Fiber pad and your 175.

Three.
Use a pimped out TM with as much 2.5 hose as possible. Ditch the 1.5 pussy whip.A 2" wand with four to 6 jets and a glide is the most effective way to wow them. Those RDMs and Rx 20 do clean up against walls and under desks for squat.

Four.
Dry stroke till you puke.

Five.
Most important step. Use that same 175 and some cotton or cotton blend PADS to go over and over the heavy traffic areas until you once again puke. No matter what pre spray you used or what toxic rinse you purged it with you'll be amazed at what is still hiding down there.
By post padding heavily used CGD you'll pull up soil that no single method alone can get up. You'll run into some areas that will never come clean. Use at least six sides in those areas.
Creating Michelins is the insiders name for this step. use both sides of the pad.
Hurby, Vac A Way and Guerkink have these pads for sale

Six.
Use an Airpath if you have one.

Could you do as well (only slower) with an OP machine instead of 175? Or not even close?

I'd do that all night if TJ wasn't down the street & didn't have an open door. Much rather run in the Cimex & give them a guarantee that when they come in the next day that the office won't smell like burnt tortilla shells from the microwave and there are no long distant phone calls to Mexico city.

I have an even better one... Here's the extra shady hustle (Note: I only do this to one guy that's been flipping me the bird for the last 4 years): You cold call on a place the day AFTER you see that a-hole competitor who's been bad mouthing you's van outside...

They'll tell you "Oh, we just had them done last night". This is where you offer you free demo to show them "what they left behind". Take a new towel or 3, a bit of Snake Oil or Hot Knife & OP the snot out of the traffic areas and any spots that wicked on the poor hack that had the misfortune to piss you off... Take the dirty towel & fold it in half next to a clean towel folded in half, keep cleaning. Keep a quart sprayer on the cord hook with a spotter mix and mist the wickers and the extra tough trafic areas. Thank them for their time, leave a card, flyer & a bottle of Poof.

Your phone will ring in a few days... It'll be the prospect wanting an estimate and a maintenance agreement. Of course the other guy will still be flipping you off whenever you pass him... But you'll see him out a little less. I guess that's what is known as hitting them in the wallet.

"Don't soak the carpet two light passes with a HF will do"

Isn't that statement an oxymoron? HF are soakers.I haven't used one in years, wastes too much water as well as product.

#2: A dampened op pad works just as well if not better because you are actually picking up soil.
#3 is optional,not necessary.

Other than that, your post is old school but on the money.

My wife and tool are just fine thank you.If you have to get a light mist then obviously the your tool is putting out too much.
HF and electric sprayers are like everything else, tools that are subject to opinion.A hf is definitely more convenient but in comparing both on the same job,in the same rooms, quite a few years ago, I noticed that there was no dramatic difference in the level of clean.
More does not always equal better.
