The Vacuum's static was shocking me today.

Any cure to this defect on some of these vacuums? I turn the vacuum on...it doesn't shock. I turn the beater bar on...it's constantly shocking me from the friction.

Is there a loose wire somewhere?

That's why I asked you guys. I'm not driving to a vacuum repair store. Screw that. This vacuum that's building up all that static is the Proteam upright. Has anyone else experienced that when they turn on the beater bar?

Never happened before or after with that same Shark vac

Not static. There is a two way throw for the switch and separate wiring for the beater brush. Something shorting there.

if your hair is not raising and its painful, thats usually a short from on the ac side... if your hair raises, you could be generating a charge between the carpet and brushroll.. still they try to ground that out as well..

My hair was rising.

And today, I was on a low pile carpet and it didn’t produce that static. It was just on that flimsy, 1980’s brown carpet yesterday

Plug it in to a GFCI outlet. If it trips, you know the machine is buggered. If not, it’s just the static on that day or on that rug.
