I had a Yp salesman call me last year. It was a depressing conversation, listening to his sales pitch. I asked him if he's ever heard of Google after hearing his speech.

Last year when yp came in I felt sorry for the rep. She used to be the "specialist" that was called in to consult with. She was caught, too many years in to quit, she had to step back and start selling again. She didn't even ask about the book. He first product was a Service Monster type service. Nice lady, I felt bad saying no to it. 😑

I remember when you HAD to be in the Yellow Pages. It was a battle to see who would buy the largest ad. I think the largest we went was 1/4 page. This year Im dropping (finally) a very small 1/2 inch in column ad and getting a website going. (Due to be up soon) Kinda a dinasaur but never too late. Actually I keep busy without advertising and reminder cards so it wasnt high on my list of things to do

It used to be that you could count the number of cleaners in the area just by the ads in the YP. Now you dont really know since everything is online. Not that it matters.....

Even my oldest of new customers are googling me up.

_____

The whole concept of the white pages sure seems odd these days, don't it?

So, do black people object to being listed in the white pages?
