A block of apartments has a water leak that they can not trace.
The building has a concrete slab floor and is built on sand, and adjacent is a tarseal carpark

Q. Will a thermal camera enable images below ground level?

thermal imaging shows difference in surface temperature

which helps pinpoint an area to investigate further

Yes realise that Dan, but interested in what depth they can read to successfully. e.g. say 6"concrete slab - or 3" of tarseal - can it determine moisture below?

If there is a big enough temp difference from seepage or evaporation to affect the surface then yes (depends on unit how sensitive)

If its a slow leak 6" below surface and the water isn't surfacing there, or is same temp as the surrounding concrete it wont show a variance

If you've got water coming in it should highlight a cooler area somewhere

I'm pretty sure I still dont use mine to its capabilities

a contactless infrared thermometer is a cheaper option to possibly consider
