I hate when that happens. Because of all the sloshing around it plays hell with you shut off. We put in an overflow tube using stick radiator hose. A few simple fitting and most of it will drop through the floor warning you.

The manufacturer neglected to tell you that that is the self cleaning option that comes with those tanks at no additional charge.

Mine did that this week and it only needed a little adjustment. The float was going too far down when the tank was empty and was getting hung up and wouldn't pop back up when I filled the tank. There was an easy adjustment bolt on the arm of the float that took care of it.

I had the issue last week. I use a dema float. Very reliable but when they go, they just go. I like the idea of an overflow hose. Keeps it out of the van at least.
Funny when people say the electronic shut-off on a Butler is too complicated...

An inlet pressure regulator will help the float seat last longer.

Check the rubber nipple on the plunger too. They are a wear item and need replaced periodically.
