and I imagine the other Sapphire units.

Dont let the unit sit there for too long (twenty minutes, I'm guessing) with the thermostat on high and no water flowing.

A built in safety valve will shut the unit down if it thinks the HX system is at 280º for too long.

There is a by-pass fix to get the job done but just far easier to keep the thermostat on low.

thats all.

Just like my old prochem Bruin back in the late 90's.

As if TECHNOLOGY ever improved on TM since then.
Other than upgraded LOOKS, and more electronics.

Same old hot water bypass into your waste tank.

thats all.

Technically the water box temp relief valve should open at 165 and start bypassing to the waste tank the thermostat if everything is working correctly should just open
And close maintaining on a 570 low 195, medium 220 High 240.

The only time I’ve seen these units go
Global hot is when the bimba sticks on heat and then you’ll see the 280 your talking about.

Still I’ve never seen a Sapphire shut down because of wicked heat.

The 405 had a 285 degree sensor at the heat exchanger and it the bypass orofice got blocked that would stop water from circulating and boom sputter quit.

Maybe Sapphire implemented the shut off to Protect the machine when things go wrong.
