my mechanic suggested getting the base engive 3.7 V6 and a limited slip 410 axel to add more oompf on hill climbs, of which we have plenty.

Probelm is, it would have to be a customer order with a 12 week wait.

He has tall roof with virtually every other component we want (Dual batteries, HD alternator, tow haul and a bunch of other froof BUT with the Turbo boosted motor and 3.5 limited slip axle.

for the same price..... 41k (Turbo van heavily discounted)

Does the Turbo make up for the loss of the 4.0 gearing on hills? I would think so...

Not sure. We don't have hills like you do. The turbo boost sure has the power though. Reminds me of the old powerstroke diesel we used to have. She takes off and push you to the back of the seat.

Mike, I live in a VERY HILLY region in British Columbia. Go for the 4:10... if I had a choice, I’d wait... I think my tranny/van is starting to ‘Mark S’..... it’s worth the wait.... if you got to deal with snow, go with Rud chains....

What van and config do you have?

No snow, just some slimy/mossy winter roads

The Ecoboost has stupid amounts of torque. You will get much better mileage with the taller gear ratio and have more than enough power.
There are thousands of f150s with that engine and gear ratio towing 6-8k lb trailers all across the country. Don't worry about it.

3:31 will be smooth on the highway, a little less power hill climbing, much better in the snow. I think you have enough power not to worry about it.

The real question, are you carrying a live well? If so, how big/heavy? How big is your recovery tank? I carry 175 gal.... I NEED lower gear ratio on the hills....

Do you get the lower roof heights? Like under 6' 6"?
Yeah from what I've seen we get the same body shapes as you but ours are all diesel, current engine is 2.2 turbo in either 130hp 150hp or 180hp all with 6 spd box. I've got the 150hp I'll chip it to 180hp once the warrenty is done more for kicks n giggles than necessity

I think the lowest one we have in North America is 7 ft. I have seen the diesel versions in the UK under 6'6". Great for getting into parkades.

compared to what they've been driving???

I figure the girl scout troop on bicycles won't pass them going up hills anymore .
Petty sure they measure the 0-50 acceleration with a stopwatch too, not a sun dial.....
