Here is a post about the policy that Troublemount Forums has with Do Not Following your links.

You are misrepresenting this!!

It is very easy with your active moderators to eliminate forum spam and your group has done a good job of that.
You are saving the link juice to go to your posts that have links to websites you have built.

In effect you are taking the link juice created by the active members of this forum and taking it for yourself and your moderators.

Most of the people here do not understand do not follow and when they ask a question ---Tre---you do not answer it.
You accuse me of not knowing what I am talking about?

If you look at my posts you will find I have been very educational and very opinionated in my writing.

In truth Tre you are the Spammer---you are taking the link juice and keeping it all for your PROFIT.
Why are these links DoFollow?

carpet cleaning edinburgh
Carpet Cleaning Virginia Beach

Carpet Cleaning Boulder
---These links were in Tre's post and were Do Follow

My following post may give more info**

Do Not Follow is an option the website owner can put on any link in any website, blog or forum.

It basically tells Google --do not follow this link and do not give this link any value. It is on our website but we do not value this and we do not want you to give any linkjuice to these links.

It was set up to help forums and blogs that accept comments to protect them from spammers. A comment spammer will come in and sign up and then leave a couple of comments with a link to his website.

Most forums use moderators to police their spammers and *** is no exception. They do a good job of deleting comment spammers. I do not know of any other forum that do not follows all the links in the forum except the links to people that paid the owner of the site to build their website. The only links on this forum that are not do not follow are links to websites that Trey has made or is the website of a moderator of the site. I just went through several threads to check this out.

Tell me where I am misleading or I do not know what I am talking about Trey!

Mikey's board leaves your links as Do Follow.

The moderators and the approval process has kept most of the spammers off Mikey's board---except me---

Jeebus.......doesn't matter either way......page rank....pfffff

the only links with any value on this forum are the ones on the welcome page........and more because of the network than the PR

So now the Village idiot is a SEO Idiot too.

It is better to be silent and look like the Village idiot than to type into a computer and prove it.

Forum links suck for web juice anyway. You get more juice with local directories and local membership lists.

Google doen't index most links.

If you check Google Local Map listings you can see the links that are important.

I have over 750 links and only 35 show up on Google.

Is there any one involved in the floor cleaner business that deserves this title?

Last time I saw a person this starstruck I was taking my 9 year old daughter and her pals to a Insync concert.

I wonder how many Hummers Joe has won from Tre?

As far as backlinks their cleaning site has 1500 backlinks with 500 backlinks from http://homefixinfo.com/

It looks like a home improvement site. But, it is likely a backlink farm and some and others links that appear to be link farms.

The internet is getting full of fake directories, link farms and other paid services to game page rank.

It's unethical. It could put your site into the penalty box. But, the internet is becoming a bloody battleground over page rank.

Hello Dave,
It is pretty well acknowledged that Google does not show anywhere near all of the links that they recognize. There are some pretty well followed guys that disagree with your statement about forum links. I totally agree that 300+ links from one site is not worth much more than 6 links over time from the same site.

They responded to my aggresive thread.
They asked me a bunch of questions and then Locked the thread.

I opened a new thread and posted but whatever.

Jason Whaley stated
Whos forum is this again?
Are the members here only to get the "link juice" that *** can provide?
How much money have you sent in to help support *** Rick?
Since you are a website builder how about doing a few for free for the posters here at ***! That is what you are asking *** to do for you!
Since you brought it up in the first place does that mean you are only here for the "juice"?

This forum was started to help raise the bar for cleaners and restoration professionals! Not to put them at the top of searches. If you are looking for that then send Tre some money for SEO and he WILL put you at the top!

I hate to be blunt and sound like an a-hole but.... Quit complaining! If you don't like it the door swings both ways.

I thought this was a forum to benefit Carpet Cleaners. I thought the ads for Tre's website building were for his benefit I thought the ads you sell to sponsors were for Tre's benefit.

It is his fiefdom.

Jason You have read many of my posts---Am I here just for link juice?

Are you telling me I have not educated you in some way with my ramblings?

How would my building websites for free have anything to do with this forum?

You have no idea how much I have donated to charity in labor and cash...

It is not OK for me to ask a question? I bring up a question and a legitimate one.

Tre's Response

Again, do-follow links is a privilege:

People can obtain their links as do-follow if they want to support *** by.........

1) Reaching a certain amount of posts and by helping one another. (This is determined by the admins)
2) Become a Admin/Moderator/Specialist
3) Join the *** Mastermind Group
4) Join our SEO Campaign.

This is fair and plus it gives the members a way to support everyone here on the board instead of being leechers.

I believe that Tre's decision on this is flawed. My opinion and many other SEO experts would say that giving link juice to the cleaners that are active and creating the content of HIS forum will not have a negative impact on the forum's rank.

It would have a positive impact on the cleaners websites that frequent this forum. As a seo guy I do not care but if you really are for ---The Little Guy-- you would change this policy.

Again My TWO Cents.

Some forums have a 15 post minimum before they "accept you" as a member and allow signature links.

Rick

The original purpose of DNF was to easily automatically mark Blog Spam Comments.

I see Rickie Font with 1,154 posts and his link is DNF
Scott Warrington 2,882 posts DNF Scott has never made a post that helped anyone else---

Reaching a certain amount of posts is obviously BS?

I guess I just hit on a subject the OWNER is a little Sensitive about.

You locked the post after you asked me questions---

A few years ago there was a Cleanfax related "Mastermind" email group. Perhaps 1996-99? A few good people, a few goofballs, several shills, and a couple of hot-heads that sunk it. (Typical of Internet "good intentions")
