And as far as the power washing comments go , I have a separate power washing unit. I would be replacing the cat pump with one that goes to 3500 psi and bypass the heat exchanger when power washing. Don’t have to unload and load a separate unit or gas it up . It will make my life easier..

The way the PTO Steam Genie I got had this what I think is a 12v diesel cutoff switch.. It basically energizes sending 12v to the solenoid when you turn the unit on and the pulls the throttle pedal with the cable to the desired RPM..

@Rob Grady Made a cool gadget to work with electronic throttle (drive by wire).. A magnetic mount adjustable to desired RPM..

@Able 2.0 Sent me this as a joke, but it's not stupid if it works..

So one issue I knew I was gunna get stuck at is the vacuum advance is not strong enough to pull the TBI throttle shaft springs forward. So anyone have experience with this ? I’m thinking disconnect the springs and put separate return springs attached to the throttle cable bracket ?
Not supposed to PULL ....tap the pedal and it HOLDS at your preset point

You guys are fuckin geniuses with the vacuum advance technology! I’m coming up with some ideas myself! Just when I was getting ready to throw in the towel! Thanks😂

Do I amuse you?!?

What do you need on a 1988 Ford? Got a throttle cable.. The BS is with Electronic throttle..
Your solution was very good I googled it and found some on Amazon. Still wondering if it will be strong enough to pull Back the throttle body springs on the 1990 Chevy

It gets mounted under the dash.. You drill a hole on the top of the throttle pedal.. It pulls the top of the pedal which simulated like stepping on the pedal.. It works on a 2000 Chevy.. It works for other diesel applications..

I’m sure it should work for you.. But then again, I have no “real hands on” practical experience with it yet..

I bought an 2003 extended Chevy throttle cable to put the Steam Genie in.. I didn’t want to mess with electrical until I got the unit refurbished..

Ok I understand now. I might give it a shot. Probably be easier that taking the springs of the carb and adding different springs. Thank you Nate ! My daughter is heading to Hawaii for Xmas I’ve always wanted to go myself

Patent not pending. The magnetic throttle control I use for my 07 Butler works well for my purposes. I can set speed/rpm by dialing down on the threaded rod, using a TinyTach to determine engine speed.
I am only using this setup as an interim measure until I can dig deeper into the mysteries of the Butler wiring this winter.
There is an engine shutdown sensor buried deep in the front of the 6L that has a bared wire that prevents the unit from engaging. I have the unit running on just the hot wire from the clutch to an on/off switch.

Good idea .. I’d like to know how the butler is advancing the rpm . I’m sure it’s not to complicated. ?? Throttle positioning censor??

It''s not complicated. Look at the pic Nate posted. Nothing more than a heavy duty magnet with a threaded rod and a SS bracket that dials down/up to set rpm.

I was referring to how butler does it. Computer board ? Throttle positioning censors? I know nothing about anything other than Vacuum advance and would like to know how the newer pto advance set up works for future reference

The ECM has temperature (determines density), airflow (throttle position) and exhaust gas (oxygen) sensors which help it determine the correct amount of fuel to inject. That's normally done by holding the injector open for a different amount of time - a longer or shorter squirt.

Sorry I can't help much on that. There is a fuse/relay board behind the passenger seat that monitors the whole system. I do know that the wiring on my 07 Chev it's specific to that model year.

Nate for now I ran a pull chain with a key ring on the end of it to a sheet metal screw I drilled into the firewall . I’ll take a picture next time.. the other end of the chain has a key ring that goes into the throttle linkage. I had to drill a hole into it .
Dimn and dimmer!
