Truckmount being stolen in my area.....

I was informed where I buy my chemicals that 3 truck mounts have been stolen in the last 2 months. The vans were found by police stripped of all equipment. There is a black market where these are then being sold for 5,000.00. I'm in the southern CA. area and they were taken from Redondo Beach, Lomita, and Torrance. About 4-5 months ago there was a news story on t.v. about this happening in the west Los Angeles area and warning cleaners. Guess the thieves are hitting the south bay now. Beware.

We had a Butler stolen about 15 years ago. The crew was cleaning in Detroit on a 3rd floor walk up and did NOT lock the van and use the port hole. As they were cleaning, everything just went dead. They thought maybe the truck had died but when they got downstairs, it was gone.

The police were a big help in finding it... NOT!!! It was found a year later, in a salvage yard. A former employee saw it there and called us to ask if we knew it was there. Apparently it had been found in an alley 2 blocks away from where it was stolen.There it sat for 6 months until it was towed to the salvage yard, minus it's motor and transmission, tires and everything else of value. Even though the van still had it's VIN# we never got a call.

Thankfully we had insurance and they paid us off.

Unfortunately that general area is becoming total gang land...just like a lot of LA. I hate to see this culture taking over this once great area. I hear more and more of the mexican gang culture taking over certain areas and recruit around schools where a lot of young kids can be impressed or scared into joining.

Really, a very similar fashion as they do recruits for Hamas and Hezbollah...walk up to young men and ask them are you with us or against us? Either way is a quick sad end so many times for these younger men...because if you are with us, you go prove yourselves by becoming a future suicide bomber or if you are not willing to join you may just be dead even quicker.

And no- I'm not saying mexicans or arabs stole the truckmounts! All I'm saying is that this once peacful SoCal is becoming a ruin.

If your really worried you can get an alarm that will call you if the vehicle is moved. They also have them with GPS tracking built in. I leave mine at a locked yard with cameras but both are pretty easy to defeat as the Matco guy found out.

$200 and I can view and review all 8 cameras from my desk at work or my smart phone. I have only had it for a couple of months and not all 8 cameras are set up yet but it is keeping at least a month of history.

We have a $5000 16 camera set up here at work. And I think the quality is almost as good.

You can see one of my dogs sleeping on his bed... without the laundry baskets, he would be sleeping all day on the sofa.

It is actually a hydraulic lift that travels between a embalming room, and a casket showroom located in the basement of one of my funeral home accounts.
There is no plumbing down there, so they let me use the lift as needed, assuming the room is not "occupied" of course.

Let's be honest, if attempting to hide anything from the Chavez Clan, underground would be the last place I would put it.

Give 2 or 3 of them a couple of old soup spoons and they would tunnel their way right through in no time, and be souf of the border with your stuff before you knew what the fook happened.

We all know the best way to keep your stuff safe from them is to keep it someplace up high......... where they can't reach it............ :icon_razz:

i keep our vans locked up off street behind gates and have them fully insured for total replacement. This is one of my worst fears to lose your investment, transportation, livelihood, and savings and business at at once....
