i can't get the grease to purge all the caps. I've tried all the tricks I know. Moving the truck forward and back, whacking with a rubber mallet. There are no bolts to loosen and I don't want to pull the snap rings. I didn't try directly impacting the cap but with the snap ring in the way I'd have to use a punch. I drove it a couple days and then tried again but no luck. I have one holdout. Any ideas

If it's a plug of stiffened grease holding things up it might be moving slowly but not clear of the passage yet. Pumping more grease might finally clear it out. I personally would pump a whole cartridge into it before I broke down and disassembled or replaced it....

A little heat (little!) From heat gun or propane torch might loosen the old grease up? On the body, not the caps....

Heat will be my last try. I did try it today at the end of the day but it was a short drive back. I was hoping the heat from driving would do it. Tomorrow my last job leaves me driving down the interstate. I'm gonna hit it again. Yes, I would pump a hole gun through also. I'm not going to disassemble it. I would just put a new one in at that point. I might pop the clip out and give it a good strong tap with a socket. I need to get a new clip before I try that. I will probably not be able to reuse it.
