Upper Cloud Limit and precipitate on the carpets

A lot of folks like to talk about how hot the water is coming out of their wand. Here's something I can't get my head around, most of the chemicals I know have an upper cloud limit of 120-130 degrees. Perhaps there are some that are designed to be used at much hotter temperatures like 150-170? I don't know... so if you have 170 degree steam blasting on pre-spray that has an upper cloud limit of 120, what happens? Is it going to precipitate that cloudiness and leave residue on the carpet? When is hot too hot? Thanks.

For me "too hot" is when my hoses burn the carpets.

The "cloud point", while an interesting subject, is irrelevant to actual cleaning. (I'm ready for the geek-hate) :-)

Lee;

I don't think "cloud point" is at all irrelevant.

A good chemist will utilize the cloud point to aid the cleaning performance.

Ideal cleaning is right at the cloud point.

Of course, the difficult part is determining what the actual temperature is "on the carpet" after prespray.

applying prespray hot, ie with a hydroforce, will make better use of that cloud point
even if the water is 212+ at the truck, it will never hit carpet at that temp. there just isn't enough flow through the sprayer. All the cleaning action occurs from the prespray and any agitation. After that its all rinsing, which can be higher flow and higher temp

I like it 220-230 at the machine, enough heat to do the job with out the big steam clouds.

cloud point is temporary, as soon as it cools past that point, it starts working as intended again.
