Right now i carry 3 50' lengths on my hose reel and another 50' rolled up in the truck. I want to cut them down shorter, especially the last bit of the roll, so that i dont have to run an entire 50' length when all i need is 10 more feet. I was thinking about just cutting one or two rolls in half, so i would have a bunch of 25's. What do you guys do? Should I cut down the first lengths too, so that i am only carrying in small lengths at a time? Or will all of the joints be a pain?

most of "our" hose runs are covered by 75ft
(appx 60% I'd guess)
100ft gets us to 90% of the typical jobs "we" do.

here's what's worked best for us

this is how it comes "off" the reel
25ft-50-25-50-50

the first 25ft gets carried in so it doesn't get scuzzed up.
then 50ft gets reeled off.
If that doesn't get us there, out comes the 25ft'r.
if we need more than that, we'll drop the 25ft'r and put 2 50s together to go with the front 25ft whip

clear as mud, right

My numbers are closer to 100-125 average. I carry 5 50 ft sections on the hose reel, and 1 25 foot piece that I role and set in the back.

For the solution hose my first piece is 100 ft. then 3 50's. I also have a 25 ft solution hose that is set off to the side. It is very handy to have a set of 25 foot hoses on the truck.

On larger upholstery cleaning jobs I find it nice to have 2 guys cleaning at the same time. I have 2 15 foot pieces of both solution and vac hose. I use a splitter for the solution lines and a Y for the vac. This way 2 of us can clean the heck out of that upholstery.

I installed 4 4"tubes for a leach field inside on the roof of our vans. We put a cut vac hose in each one with a stainless slip connector. We can easily pull out 1 or 2 for a few extra feet. I also store long handle attachments in them. The one that holds the rake gets used the most as it's always empty.

We have been running 25', 50',25', 50 + 50 =200 on the reel

Most jobs are between 75 and 125 feet so we are adding another 25 foot section so we don't have to peel off that extra length. will pack 175 total on reel. need 200 on about 1 or 2 jobs a year..

I start with 50' of 2" (which is actually 2 - 25' with cool cuffs) that is not on the reel and is just for inside the house. Then 50' of 2.5 that comes off the reel first, then 4 - 25' lengths of 2" as needed. All with Cool Cuffs.

Why not use a 75' for the long run then 50's? That covers most guys who's average run is 125' with less joiners. You can get 2" and 2.5" hose in 75' lengths.

Take care,
Lisa
