Vac hose reel is too loose

My vacuum hose reel is very loose. If I grab the hose and walk with it and then stop, 50 feet of hose comes off the reel. I need to tighten up the reel. I think I am supposed to wedge some plastic shims between the reel and the frame, but the ends of the vac reel are closed off. I have a standard 300' vac reel.

I have had all 250' of hose come off my 300' reel. It has ball bearings, so it just keeps coming off until I stop it.

Heres the quick fix. Use the rubber black bungee cord, 100 feet in on the reel or where ever you want and it will prevent that from happening. Works like a charm. Stretch it from one wheel to the other.

my reel has a brake/lock on it I just adjusted it so it drags just a little to stop that problem.....nothing worse then pulling off 50 ft and picking up 200
