Second time this has happened to me.

My brass Y filter that sits between my Fresh Tank and my Cat was plugged up something bad today.
This happened once about a year ago as well. Keep in mind I dont have a chem pump and rarely if ever add any sort of rinse.

I have no idea where this stuff is coming from large grit and this weird red rubber that looks like that old style carpet cushion. No clue what it is but it comes apart with little effort.

I hate to take the lid off to see what the heck is going on as it's a royal PITA but I guess I have to now.

Anyone else?

If you are filtering you incoming.... then the only place that could possibly be coming from is the softener....

I thought the white looking stuff may be sand...it could be crap from the softener...

the red rubber looking stuff could be a inside liner from one of your hoses breaking down....

hard to tell by the picture...

when was the last time you did a hard water test on that thing....

My softener took a dump last week...

Mike, have you ever seen the inside of a water softner. The little sand like pieces look pretty much like your pic. I'm glad my Butler doesn't have problems like this. You may have to consider buying one if your western family Vortex doesn't quit giving you trouble.

Dont have to be a vat owner for this one, I have the same filter on mine.I would look inside my fresh tank,or the line, find out where it is coming from.

Marty.

The guy who sold his Rotovac for $35 claiming it was totaled when all it needed was a new .50 rubber seal.

That's according to Brevak and Mikey.

Never know either of them to make a story up, huh?

Actually ... yes, I do have a slightly used Odin Vac Booster I'll sell cheap.

Check to see if you aren't having a little corrosion on the fitting inside the fresh water tank. I had a non SS piece (where the hose connects to the tank at a 90 degree angle) corrode and fall to the bottom of the tank. I couldn't figure out why I had a little rust in the water and crude in the little filter. I found it when I replaced the float.
