big area or small area, Ron?

if small area, xylene will liquifiy it and enable you to wipe it off

I looked into carbide scrapers for a rortary when we were bidding on a large floor install
But we didn't get the bid, so I never bought one and have no clue how well (or easy) they work

We use a citrus gel made by Zep. Spread with a lambswool. Scrape with an 8" floor scraper.

Mineral spirits may work if it's not a huge area and you're trying to get it clean. Although it's best to know why you're trying to get it up.

I should note, i just enough about VCT to be dangerous....

I don't "think" floor stripper or floor cleaner emulsifies VCT glue.
It's not water soluble when wet and requires mineral spirits clean up, so I'm reasonably sure it's not water soluble when cured.
The oxidizer in 02 probably isn't doing a thing for you either

so it's probably the d'limonene in the 02 that's softening it up.
Use d'lime solvent and see if that aids in your efforts
(make sure you rinse the chit good too)

this is concrete that has had the VCT removed, right??

what kind of sealer/finish are you applying?

probably no big deal but if the floor has been down for a quite while and the glue is black it may have abestos in the glue

I used some stuff a few years ago but don't remember the name of it, bought it from a carpet/tile store. If it is that important I can get you the name of the product

6 x 6 or 8x8 tiles may be aesbestos they are definitely smaller than 12x12 tiles for sure....and you'd see the pattern after the tile has been pulled up to know they aren't normal.

All they do to take care of them is wet the floor like he's doing anyway....and maybe use respirators but I'm not sure on that although it wouldn't be a bad idea. Moisture keeps the dust/aesbestos from being in the air.

Sounds like he has it under control though....

just a report

The glue was both black and in some areas yellow.
I had done a test area and things worked, well we get into the job and it was a huge pain in the ass. got it up and the finish came out nice, this was a real old floor 25-25 yrs old. The 12by 12 tiles were up so all I had to do was beat the glue, and it kicked my ass

Ill put up pictures today
