Vinyl Tile,

File cabinets sat here for 15 plus year's,
What's is the best way to remove a lot of that rust without causing too much tile discoloration in that area.

What have you tried so far?

I would think most any rust remover would work, and be safe to the VCT

Soak it down for awhile with floor cleaner.
You will be surprised what will dissolve with a normal cleaner with some soaking.
Might try a 30% cleaning vinegar soak.
Oxalic acid for the tough spots.

In the past I've tried a toilet bowl cleaner that had a strong acid to it.
I never thought about trying a carpet cleaning rust remover.

Sure. I use it on all sorts of tile, porcelain, ceramic and vinyl all the time, I mean why not? Fabric, why would it harm anything else other than natural calcium based stone?

Foaming or gel baseboard stripper. Let it dwell, then scrape. Then repeat with regular stripper and a hi pro pad. They’ve already damaged the color, you can’t be concerned with that. It will look percent better. Refinish.
