NO PROBLEM! i f**kin freaked the first time it happened to me. and the diesel mechanics (part changers) told me it was the pump. i am glad you are back up and running.

i dont know why he kept it another day, when you change the sensor it is a night and day fix. an imediate fix. if these sypmtoms come back to the truck later dont freak out just check the wires first, then check the sensor.

if you have any other issues never do anything without consulting all the guys on here especially jim martin.

He actually ask me to let him keep it for the afternoon as a "favor". I think he was also so shocked that it was possibly just the sensor that he can't believe it. After all the big shot guy from headquarters who installed the software was there when they first pulled it in for the analysis and he was totally convinced that it was the fuel pump. Maybe he was just trying to help them recover part of their investment back! I slept good last night for the first time in 2 weeks. If everything goes well today I have 2 + this week=3 weeks of work to try to get caught up on. I will finally be as busy as the big boys! at least for a week.

Thanks again, and yeah Jim is a great help . I left him a message when the systoms first came up (I was trying to take up some of his R & R time since he doesn't get bothered from Marty anymore) and he called me back and walked me through some things. If I should ever run into you or Jim at an event steaks and beer on me!

Oh, by the way. I checked the sensor that they replaced when I changed the oil today. It is the "exact" same sensor that was in your pictures that you posted.

Does anyone ever replaced known problem parts before they fail to prevent this from happening? I now know why some of you guys need backup vans.

I wouldn't necessarily replace it before it shows I be a problem but I would definitely have it on the shelf ready to go. As I do with most critical components on the trucks.

Some things are cheaper to replace before they fail than to lose a day of work having change out a part, or even a few hours. Time is money in my book, and I've got more money than time. Oops, did I just say that? Thats just not true. lol. You get my point.

Thanks a lot Mike. I appreciate you taking the time to help me try to fix my stinking truck problem. But, I'm not having any of the problems you or Billy mentioned. My truck runs fine. I'm not getting any smoke. The fuel smells like it's burning to rich, mainly at an idle. The truck has always smelled like diesel fuel, but it seems like it has gotten worse or I am so use to the Hino motor that has little to no smell at all. I will check into this part though, maybe it's just starting to go bad.

Give me a call next time you are by your truck so we can try one other thing to adjust idle and slow the idle down a bit so it is not consuming so much diesel at idle.

Greetings: Newbie on site. I have similar problem in for repair. 06 UD2300 (FE6TA ECM version 2) displays "1-3" code...Rack Sensor. I CKd Rack and Pre-Stroke sensors and wiring back 2 ECM...All within spec. I CKd ECM for Rack Sens volts out...Meter reads 1.2VDC w/ ECM (engine connector) connected or not. I suspect ECM faulty. Customer states he had ECM and Distribution pump replaced in order 2 repair "lots or white smoke, lack of power" problem. Unit displays flashing "engine MIL" when key in "run" also when engine running. Thoughts..Ideas? I do have a diagram of 06 UD FE6TA Pre-Stroke, Rack sensor, ECM wiring. I also have earlier ('94) service manual I am usiong for reference.
