wand suggestions for tall guy in a yacht

OK, I know I can take an inch and a half wand and cut it down...but I'm tall already 6"1" and don't like hunching over and want it to hit the carpet at the correct angle.

I've been doing more and more yachts. I need a wand specifically for them. It should hit the carpet at the correct angle while I'm standing up tall...and it needs to be really compact (read close to my feet). 12" is probably too wide. Imagine the smallest room you've ever been in with mahogany walls with 10 coats of lacquer. You cannot ding these up.

What wand can I buy (new or used) and cut down that won't break the bank.

PS I also have to run the porty from the dock...meaning sometimes 75 foot runs...occasional 100. No heat, two three stage vacks.

Any help welcome.

You will have to go with a swivel wand. I got the new Mytee Bentley Pro swivel wand. It has helped my tall tech with his back problems and he thinks is the best wand ever...
This wand has a built in metal glide which will need to be cleaned out often--like daily..
Others like the DevPro-- but too rich for my blood.

That brings up one more requirement...MUST have a Glide. Too many wood transitions and unprotected walls.

Mat, could you have a muffler shop bend the neck on your wand, a little? It would be awkward for big spaces, but maybe shrink the radius enough for yachts.

When working on Yachts you will need to charge a lot higher per Sq foot fee.. it takes longer to do smaller areas and you have to move very slowly and precisly--- Think of it as Tai Chi carpet cleaning..

We usually charge $1-2 per sqft on yachts. I use small s bend wands and stair tools. Cleanco used to make a 10 inch TM wand but you will have to find one used. 3 jets.

I think I own one of those..... Got it when I bought a guy out.... Looks about 25 years old....... I've never used it......it's an all closed in head? If so, yup, I've got one..... Was going to use it to do edging when I run my rotary..... I just bought a 3" single jet for edging in hard to reach places.... Worked very well over the weekend, when I did my flagship job. I used it under desks, behind plants, between kiosks...... I joked to my helper that I was going to make her clean the whole building with it....

Send him a pic, it's probably just what he needs.

PMF probably made it. I would just call them and give them the specs and have it custom made

@Sierra Clean Care , would you be interested in sending me a pic. That sounds about like what I'm looking for. A stair tool is a great option on 30-40 ft boats, but a 60-90 ft vessel with a stair tool would cripple me. If someone has a wand that fits the bill you could always cut it in half and ship it, which would be a lot cheaper, I'd be cutting it down likely anyway. I might contact pmf and see how much that might be. Thanks and keep them coming guys.

RotoVac StairPro.

Won't work as the handles are too wide and taking it up and down an interior spiraled staircase would be hard.

On these jobs I charge for my time, nothing to do with square footage.

And yes it takes a long time, you have to move like Mr. Miyagi, slow, full of purpose, aware of all your surrounding, sometimes I close my eyes and make clicking noises to locate my surroundings, like a dolphin.

As I am not using it, it will probably sit in the corner of my shop, I bet, another 25 years, sure, I will take a pic or 2. Yeah, I'd be willing to sell it. I gotta take a few pics, I think I'm going to sell a few things. I've got tools from prior owners, guys I've bought out, and shyte I've bought over the years..... Time for a shop sale.... A little spring cleaning........ Gimme a couple days..... BTW, I'm in western Canada.....

@Mrice , after cleaning it up for a couple pics, I realize why the guy retired it..... It's cracked in like 4 spots, the jets are so corroded, I doubt a guy could even change them out..... It looks as if it's been sitting on the bottom of the ocean for a couple decades........
Jeff @ SCC
Yes, this is after soaking it in very hot water w/ degreaser......

That's exactly the one I was thinking of. Too bad it's not in better shape. I cut my last one down and made a stair tool out of it. Sold it with one of my old TMS.

Do you think it's worth it to fix it Ron? I guess it could have its uses.... RV's, boats, large stairs.......

I'm sure it can be welded. I never liked the manifold on those wands. I would split it on either side of the center jet to give it a better balance. See if you can get Lisa to make a Teflon glide and it would be a perfect wand for tight areas. At 10 inches wide it will work with a portable as well.
