That's a good idea. I've been considering something to have with me to leave with the kids.

well i wasn't quite thinking i would leave it behind, but let them play with it while i clean to keep them occupied. and just explain to them i need it for the next job but ill be back next time with it so they can help me again.

but, yes i fear some will have separation anxiety, so i guess i will have to pick and choose wisely if i do this.

I know you wern't thinking of leaving that with them. I was only sharing my own idea.

I think if you are sure to explain beforehand that the vacuum has to go with you when you leave that will mitigate much of the separation anxiety. Then again, you might want to think about pulling a Saiger and putting your logo on the vacuum, stocking up on them and having the kids do the selling for you. :)

I do not think it is a good idea. if you ask them to help all your stuff is fair game. Coloring book may work but I do not pay attention to there kids in there house and tell my help not to also. Some parents are very protective of their children.

Give out coloring books with your name on them. Tell them to color you a picture while you're there.
Or just make sure the kids are in another room locked up so they can't bother you?

I don't recommend getting that. Small children shouldn't be around us when we are cleaning due the rare but possible chance of catching Kawasaki syndrome. No carpet cleaning doesn't cause this-- its already in the carpet. Our actions only make it airborne. This might effect pets as well.-IMHO

I would want to make sure nobody is trying to help...especially kids. Get them something that keeps them busy AWAY from everything you're doing.

One of my recurring nightmares: somebody curious enough to look at a 2 inch vacuum hose close enough to get their eyeball sucked out. It makes me cringe just thinking about it... Even with myself when working on a staircase and pulling the hose off the tools to hit the bullnose with the cuff... Sometimes the hose flops way too close to our faces.

Yes, I know.. here come all the: "you should never leave a hose end exposed and should always have a tool attached to it".. We try but sometimes you leave it open.

I should think eyeballs would be captured by the inline filter. Similarly, kittens, wristwatches and small infants.

Let's see a toy Dyson do all THAT!

Ok coloring books it is

Now you'll be blamed for the spots/stains on the flooring, furniture and walls.......... Believe me, my nieces and nephews fooked up some walls and carpet with there artwork......

I'd stick with some army men toys and stuff that's not going to fook up the house.... I'm always on the side of caution.....

army men can cause a choking hazard.

sweeper idea is still a great idea, and i can use it for a joke here and there with customers, tell them im gonna grab my super powerful vacuume cleaner and bring in this thing just to watch their eyes pop out of their head. then grab my proteam 1500xp and bring it in just to show them i was joking. haha
