Water box question.

I am having a problem with the pressure dropping on my machine when cleaning. I noticed the machine was dropping from 1000psi to like 600 psi when cleaning tile the other day. It has been doing this for a while. My supplier told me to check the filters in the fresh water box and clean them. I noticed one of the filters had worked its way off and was not screwed on the threads. What does this mean?

Ok. The supply hose probably has trash in it. Will it get in my pump?

If ANY AIR AT ALL is getting into the system in can cause a pressure drop. We run Steamway powermatics and have had a similar problem. The filter before the cat pump was a little bit loose causing us to lose pressure today on a job. Tightened the filter anoter 1/4 turn and ran beautifully.
