Gotcha. So, I may not need to change anything really considering I'm not getting all of those deposits and what not.

I have a water softener in both vans that we use. I filter the incoming water first, then into the softener, and then into the fresh water tank. I use test strips to determine when it is time to regenerate. I regen at the shop by adding bulk table salt into the top of the unit, switching a valve to regen, and place that hose into the sewer drain. It takes 20 minutes.

Soft water makes such a difference in your cleaning results, and maintaining your equipment internally. I highly recommend you get one if you don't already have one.

you should still descale at least once a year, better to maintain and stay running than be down and trouble shooting.

as per my "water used for cleaning", soft water removes alot of the minerals and replaces them with sodium which does not build up in your machine, and helps to make the cleaners work better because the softner removes the bulk of the mineral that the cleaners are formulated to over come. Ro water works best as it removes nearly all the mineral from the water and allows you to use less product with the same results because the cleaner isnt trying to overcome the mineral in the water and the soils. Im finding rinse agents work alot better with ro water.

That was the main thing I wanted to see in regards to trying the magnet. Not so much for the sake of the equipment but for the cleaning ability.
My pre sprays do a great job, and it is very rare that I can't get something looking great, but the idea of being able to use less product is appealing.

the magnets dont actually remove mineral, so they dont aid in cleaning and rinsing.
they supposedly just help keep the mineral from sticking to your plumbing.

i would spend money on a softner first.

Right now my stupid chemical feed is on the fritz. It started working backwards! So for the last few days I've been bypassing it till Rich gets the parts to reconfigure everything. The check valves and everything are shot from pulling in air.
I've got the 3 way switch which turns it off, on, and prime is shot. The dial to adjust it is shot as well. So Rich is going to replace the 3 way switch and the site thingie (my technical terminology) is going to have a switch right on it instead of that separate dial.
So in the interim I am using Flex Ice as my prespray. Is that the right thing to do? I'm also going to try that One Earth tonight because it says it rinses easily?
I'm not really clear on how to use that stuff.
The liquid jug says it's a cleaner and rinse, the powder says it's a cleaner and prespray. Neither one gives instructions on how to use in a hydro force.

i had something similar happen on my rage, diaphram in chem pump was bad. would flow on the meter even when off. looping around and around and around

I had pembertons fix it. I dropped off my rage and picked up the pro1200se, then switched back once i got the pro1200se broke in so they could demo the pro for some interested peoples, then made a trip down for my WRT class and drove the pro1200se back. They had the rage fixed pretty quick. simple system on the rage.

Yeah...it'll be fixed tomorrow....thank god! Am I doing the right thing though? Using the Flex Ice as a prespray in the interim?

If its cleaning then sure, if its not don't be afraid to use flex powder with just a water rinse temporarily. just make sure you flush thoroughly. or use a lesser ph product in place of the flex powder. but honestly just do what you think will get your customer the cleanest carpet, and just rinse well.

Kellie the magnet isn't going to help with cleaning in my experience. The minerals aren't removed but aligned in a way that prevents scale. The water feels exactly the same before and after it, because it basically is. I don't know why it works but it did.

Yeah, for now I'm just going to leave it as is. My water is hard but not too hard and I may be getting my hands on a softener for cheap if not free soon.
It's that Hydroforce one but the small one.

I have one of those tanks in my storage if anyone wants to make me an offer?

Thinking about hauling my excess stuff to Atlanta or Nashville to sell.
