Water Softener

I've been looking for a deal on a water softener for some time. I found this one on e-bay.

I was wondering if anyone here has bought one. Or if they can see anything wrong with this one other than a bit more up keep than a fancy one. They claim 1,000 gallons on a charge which wouldn't be so bad for me.

Those numbers can be greatly exagerated. A legitimate softener should be rated in grains not gallons. Do yourself a favor and stop by a local independent place where they build and repair softeners. At the least you will get an education.
