what kind of water softner do I need at the house to simply fill my tanks up 40- 50 gallons. I dont care about the rest of the house just enough water to clean with.

here is a cheap one for $120.00. I have been using this for about 3 years. They work great but you need to recharge often.

The sticks are definitely not for everyone.
The water sticks are kind of labor intensive lasting an average of 150 gallons per recharge (at 10 grains hardness).
I suppose they are fine, if you look at at recharging as your idea of fun, I suppose.

you can get one like this one in the back of the van....
I know a few guys that just set them up in the garage and fill there vans off of it instead of carrying it....
I pulled mine off the UD and had a system hooked into the house........much easier to deal with...
I think it is still sitting around here somewhere.....

if you clean a lot you'll have to make multiple trips home to refill. i carry 200 and refill it at least once during the day. they make units specific for our industry that are very convenient. it's all about the convenience.
