I need advice on polishing carrera marble counters. I have been practicing with mb stone ultra turbo 4 inch pads, 50 grit-1800 grit. Then stone pro emp powder polish. I'm having problems with the edges. Everything looks good except along the edge where I stop the machine. I'm using a makita variable speed polisher. The final edge still looks dull and scratched. What technique can I use to eliminate this problem? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

first of all, eliminate the 50-120 from your process. Unless absolutely needed, for severe etches and deep scratches, 99% of the time you will start with 220

When you do counters, you need to hang 30% of the pad over the edge, like you're overlapping into space. If you just bring the edge of the pad to the edge of the counter, it will never look right.

So try that, 220-1800, bring each grit 30% over the edge of the counter, then polish.
