When you magnify the picture, it looks like a Soumak. It’s a weave technique that can be varied, but commonly uses colored wefts that pass over four and back under two warps. However, there are variations of this. Even yarn passing over two and under one warp or over six and under three. Often the slant of the lines are in opposite directions. (Some call this brocading, but many describe it as interlaced structures) Of interest, a number of Chinese Soumaks came into country with the rug label on the Soumak weave side. Therefore, many rug owners had that side faced down on the floor, thinking it was the back of the rug. That is a clue for country of origin if you run across that specific situation. In addition to the Chinese, many rug making places have this weave in their design.
