I'll admitt, we stole some strawberries at the peak of ripeness.
It was an empty duplex.

the tennants had moved long ago.
Being the spiritual guy I am, I determnined God left them for me that day

A cat, on accident. Probably 13 - 14 yrs ago I jumped in my van and went on down the road about 2 miles when I saw a cat jump up to the front seat from the back. I did as every humanitarian would have done.

I tossed him out the window.

Gently.

AAAHHHhhh... I might as well admit it, the episode happened over 35 years ago.

At a VERY rich customer's home in Beverly Hills, I had to move a dresser to clean under it.

To lift the end and swing it around, I opened a drawer. Inside the drawer was full of black cashmere socks. Brand new, label still attached.

I moved the dresser, and closed the drawer. Not much temptation there, but yes, I did admire REAL CASHMERE SOCKS.

To move the dresser back after cleaning under it, I opened the drawer above the first one. Full of USED BLACK CASHMERE SOCKS. I moved the dresser back, and tabbed the legs.

These days, I carried my spotters and towels and tabs in a 3 gallon bucket.

When I drove away, at the bottom of my 3 gallon bucket, under the towels and other items, was a pair of used REAL CASHMERE SOCKS.

I LOVED these socks. They were warm, comfortable, and lasted for years.

I have no idea how much they cost new, and have never shopped in a store where they were sold.

One case of giving into temptation in over 40 years of going into customer's homes and offices.

I had a customer that had a douchebag employee steal a USB flash drive with all of his customers bank info, stock info and a bunch of other personal info on it. They found out it was him and went to the employee's house and almost had to call the cops to get it back.

Cleaned the boss's house yesterday. I stolt a soda out of the fridge. Thought about it after I had drank the soda.... I would have never done that at a custy's house, why was it okay to do it to the guy who writes my paychecks?

Is the customer forking over most of their money stealing??

only if you're a bait & switch schmuck
or charge for services and/or goods you didn't provide.

No bait & switch for me. I let them know that it isn't cheap right over the phone. Anything I charge for, I do.
Mamma done raised me right too.

Tell me if you have ever seen this one:

You are in a very nice house that has a full-time house-keeper. Everything is in place. There is not so much as a pen or a paperclip sitting on a counter, not a speck of dust, the house is spotless, except for one thing. Somewhere in every room there is a small pile of dollar bills and change.

Hmmm... I wonder if they are testing me. So, I just go out the truck, take all the change out of my console and add a quarter, nickle, dime or handful of pennies to every single stack I see.

Gary,

i had a few customers that had money laying on the floor. or in apperently in the way areas i would just move it from the floor to a night stand or table some where. Now the customers that i had that happen with, usually go for a ride or go to town when i show up. they also leave the check already written out on the table for me. love some of my customers!!! others i dispise. (however its spelled)

Gary are you coming to Connections?

I would love to observe you few a few days.

Travel is a such a PITA... I really don't think I would be re-imbursed in any way shape or form... It doesn't look likely.

Not even in a vacant apartment. It goes in the window seal. Integrity is doing the right thing even when no one else will know you did it.

I agree. All the trash and crap I pick up goes in that window sill as well. :)

I put stuff on the window ciels or dressors too. I had a job on friday that I found a pizza crust under a sofa. Put in on their fireplace, it's kinda amazing what you find under furniture.

I live in a small town and if you start stealing stuff it wont be long before nobody will call you. Although I don't know how a certain someone stayed in biz around here before me.....he was an ex con and I'm sure it wasn't beyond him to steal

I believe in doing what's right and if I don't get enough money from doing the job and I feel I need to steal then I need to get out business anyway. Greed is a sickness in my opinion.

How funny. I thought I was the only guy who put stuff in the window seal. Just never thought about it I guess. Or maybe a dresser, end table or coffee table unless I know it is trash.
