Then you get the call telling you the cheapest co did a crappy job can you come do it today and work around the new owner who will be moving in as you work..
One realtor wanted you the other had thier cheap co.
New owner was not impressed...

I get those too lol.

Depends on how things went down and what it looks like now compared to the first time. It could be all stinky and moldy now.

I don't see a need to punish the customer just for choosing the cheaper one. Just charge like you normally would

If they have to be ashamed to call you after they know they've made a mistake, and pay extra on top of it, it'll be hard to make them a happy, cheerleader customer

No extra fees, just glad they wisened up and learned their lesson. There will be an extra charge for my customer this morning. I drive 45 minutes to my first job and when I get there, there's stuff all over the carpets I am supposed to be cleaning. Boxes, kids clothes and toys, you name it. They just moved in and haven't been able to get organized. I'm sorry, I'm not the maid or the mover. I will be going back next week but it's gonna cost them.

My pops was irritated one time with shit all over the place.. We're talking mountain of clothes, toys, you name it.. They still wanted it cleaned.. We started throwing stuff on the beds in a big pile, they even tipped us $50 too.. I'm sure they just pushed it right off the beds after we left. It fk it, the job got done..

We normally walk also..

We would not charge extra but they would have to wait for an opening in our schedule and there is no way we are working around people while doing our job. Get the hell out of our way!!! LOL!

Its difficult to separate feelings from business, but you need to.

Cleaning is not something people think about daily, and they truly don't realize the pitfalls of going with a cheap cleaner until its too late.

Smile, be gracious, and make them feel good about calling you. They are already embarrassed, and having to pay you to do it over is already costing them way more than they expected. That's lesson enough.

Besides, you have the "lady killer charm"; don't ever lose that and become the "cranky old man".

No extra charge and they get the next avaliable time slot for their area, no special trips, even if that is a week away.

Dan and I differ on this.

I take it personal and direct them back to whomever they called that caused the issue.
I tell them if it were us, I would want the opportunity to correct it. I don't care to correct some other cleaners problems.

Dan thinks I'm an idiot for taking it personal and tries to salvage a client out of it. I feel there are easier ways of getting new clients, they are generally price shoppers that got bit by low price.

I agree they should try and get the first guy to reclean first.
My experience is that it can be funky because it was locked up tight after the cleaning. It should be reinspected and priced accordingly. Usually with an additional for the hassle and extra precautions I'll need to take.

Because its personal!!! :winky:

I never asked a girl a second time once she said she didn't care to go out with me. I just looked for the ones that were interested (foolish enough) in taking a chance.

Too many other things to do than to clean up somebody elses botched job.

*I don't take rejection well.

We've just done this lady's place for the 4th time over the years.. She used us once complained about pricing, then called someone else 2years later.. She then called us to fix the screw up and was pretty embarrassed about it.. Then she called someone else another 2years later and had us fix it again...

This last time we were there, she told us that her husband just passed away and needed it cleaned for guest coming but the person she called left water rings and bad redoubling.. I told my mom not to charge her the $400 and we'll do it for free.. I can't take money from an older lady who's just suffered through a loss like that.. Will she call us again?

We've been told we aren't cheap, but we're very good for the value... On time, don't fk up, get the job done, no babysitting us, etc... We've been doing Mill Corrections and basically been problem solvers for in-house maintenance, dealers, carpet mills, etc..

There are many variables as to why she didn't call us back, whether it was price or failing to market to her or advertise.. We haven't advertised in years and most business is referrals.. So people usually don't bark about price.. Rarely will we have a price shopper..

There are easier.....

But that does not make them better.... once a cheapie gets burnt, they are no longer a cheapie. Nobody is more vocal than a convert. Why miss the opporunity to turn your cheapie into a "I only get real cleaners" ... client referring BORG....

They will assimilate all their cheapie friends.

" resistance is futile "

Just because there are lower hanging fruit to pick.

There are people that recognize value and are smart enough to know it costs a little more than the coupon companies deliver.

But don't worry Dan has us go out and fix it. I'm just not happy about it.

Im on such a job right now.
No added fees. Have to wait for my availabilty.

This customer hired us about 18 months. Last month schduled a $900 cleaning job with us and then cancelled after finding someone "cheaper". The other cleaner tried to correct their mistake with a redo clea ing but only made it worst.
These untrained Hacks browned out a white wool jute backed carpet. If they spent any money on training and education they mught have had a chance of not causing the problem in the 1st place.
Here are before and after photos. The after will get better with time. Its only been 30 minutes.

Two weeks ago my brother went a looked an HVAC system where the homeowner was told by the cleaner she had mold in her system.

It wasn't mold. While there the carpet was wet and browning, they used a air duct cleaning system that attached to there TM.

They did more harm to the woman's house than good. Affluent neighborhood, nice home but was told how good theses guys were and that they were cheap.

Totally get it and after realizing I read the post incorrectly, I deleted it... I agree, let the guy have the opportunity to fix it. Apparently, I'm not fast enough or you were on at the same time, because I deleted it within a minutes of posting it!

I kept looking for your comment. What I would do.
I would go out at the end of the day...before he moves in and do the job. If that wasn't possible I would ask if they could move things into the garage while I work, for liability reasons. If they insisted on moving in on the wet carpet then I refuse the job. Slip and fall liability.
I don't care that they called someone else. I care that there is a check written and waiting when I arrive. Not personal...business.

So many times... calls back to us saying we were going to go with this company which was $99 for 5 rooms, but they showed up and it was $600 and we sent them away. When can we schedule with you?

Craziest time was this lady was calling around and getting quotes. After we explained why we were higher than the cheap dipshits out there, she said ok, lets book it. The day of the appointment, arriving at her home I get a call from her. "You guys were just here and you did a HORRIBLE JOB!" I said what? We are just arriving. Well, some company she called before and got a quote, kept her address and phone number and called every day to confirm an appointment with her. She thought it was us calling to confirm. This company showed up an hour early and soaked the shit out of her carpet. They had no name on their van, no uniforms, and called from a blocked number. She paid them cash! When we got in there and looked at it, stains left everywhere and the carpet was so soggy. There are some shady ass people out there.
