I had my tm down for a week, right in my busy season thanks to Honda Canada's inability to get their ass in gear and send me a fooking gasket on time, they insist on doing things their way and for change there policy to help out a customer. I had to reschedule $2000 worth of work and use my other truck with a portable to get it done. Helps that I have a very large and powerful portable and extra propane heaters but it was a pain in the ass. Although the pto has been the most reliable unit the past, there are some awesome slide in units out there that will give you more vac power and more heat and are fairly simple to use and maintain. Take a look at the prochem apex or everest. You may be surprised

Tough decision. If you have a good mechanic pay them well (bribe them) to get you fixed quickly should the unfortunate occur. If you want to sell it and buy new, just tack on what you put into it. People who pay top dollar want a van that works, not one they can work on. I buy my van's mechanics and carpet cleaning unit's mechanics pizzas regularly. One 7.99 pizza may get your van fixed quickly and save you lots of money by not being down long.

$7.99 pizza? You trying to make the poor guys sick? Or has it been since the 70s sinc you bought a pizza?

What is the old unit? Hours/condition?
What kind of van? Miles?
Slide-ins, excepting the ones with automotive engines, are toast at less than half the hours of a direct drive, so that's one consideration.

Really, it sounds like your business is doing well enough to require a back-up unit. Rent a space to park it when you don't need it.

How many pounds of boost does that bi turbo put out? Much lag?
That's the reason for two small turbos. More complex, but smooth power delivery at low and high RPMs. I used to enjoy smoking ricers in my allroad, doing the 0 to 100 while their front tires were still spinning. Must be pretty awesome losing to an old guy in a station wagon.

(I'd guess traction could be the Hemi's problem as well.)

I just sold a sweet 2003 van with a white magic pro 1200, in hindsight maybe I should have kept it but I was more concerned with cash last winter

It's a puppy, unless it was never well cared for. You should get 10,000 hours out of the unit and 200k from the engine, with various water pump/transmission service/belts/hoses and a radiator replacements.

Having a new truck can build confidence akin to owning a tiger though. No matter what happens, you own a tiger.
