Vacuum relief valve. I use a similar version on all my trucks. They do leak a bit before they reach their pop off setting where as the Kunkle valve usually stays air tight until it's activated. The Kunkle can theoretically put more strain on your motor, belts and blower but a lot of guys use them with no problem. Check out your local supplier for their version. You may have to redrill the hole in your tank.
If you're going to replace the vacuum relief valve, I would relocate it. Put a tee fitting in the PVC pipe, install it there and patch your lid.

Many manufacturers place the relief valve in a tee coming from the blower going to the waste tank. Prochem does it. I am not an engineer so who am I to say they are wrong. My neighbor is an engineer and fabricator and when he looked at that system on one of my trucks, he shook his head and said it was all wrong and that I would get turbulence in that tee fitting and it would affect my airflow. I told him to change to whatever he would recommend so he got rid of the tee with it's sharp 90 degree right angle and installed a stretched stainless steel fitting and installed the vac relief on the waste tank. I have yet to use the unit on a job (should have it installed in another truck before summer) but in testing it seems much more powerful. Could just be my imagination I don't know.

My main unit is engineered that way and I have never had a problem. Of course I clean my filter as well as Rinse out my tank. Hydramasters were built that way as well as several local manufacturers here. Never heard of overheating problems

I think the benefit of installing is as Erik said is that it would be less strain on the waste tank..?.

Turbulence in the T has got to be minimal .. Id rather in the T to protect the blower than on the waste tank .. although how about one on the tank too
