Knuckle valve needs replacing but thinking of switching to this simpler version.
Any comments for or against this change?
Many manufacturers place the relief valve in a tee coming from the blower going to the waste tank. Prochem does it. I am not an engineer so who am I to say they are wrong. My neighbor is an engineer and fabricator and when he looked at that system on one of my trucks, he shook his head and said it was all wrong and that I would get turbulence in that tee fitting and it would affect my airflow. I told him to change to whatever he would recommend so he got rid of the tee with it's sharp 90 degree right angle and installed a stretched stainless steel fitting and installed the vac relief on the waste tank. I have yet to use the unit on a job (should have it installed in another truck before summer) but in testing it seems much more powerful. Could just be my imagination I don't know.If you're going to replace the vacuum relief valve, I would relocate it. Put a tee fitting in the PVC pipe, install it there and patch your lid.
