Whats the deal with 2inch wands?

Worth it? I am behind the times I'm sure but does getting rid of the 1.5 inch lead hose and running straight into a 2 inch wand increase performance enough to justify the extra weight? I run butler Truck-mounts and we do a mixture of home and commercial . Thanks for any help.

I don't argue that it makes a difference. I use both depending how much room I have to work with. I have a machine that will perform with either.

My machine performs with either, as well.

But it performs much better with a 2 inch wand.

Which is more to the point of answering the dudes question.

I do not know the formula for this but if you go to the whip does it have any advantage or disadvantage to go back to the 2" wand or are you better off staing with 1.5" wand.
I use 2.5"off the truck mount to the filter, from filter to wand 2" hose and 2 " wand.

Can't get much better than that.

If you are going to use a whip hose(1.5"), than yes, I would also use a 1.5" wand.

The wand becomes the choke point for the vacuum system the more air flow and lift the better.

2 inch wands definitely flow air better but if you just run 2 inch vac all the way without a whip line and maybe an in-line devastator filter to your 1 1/2 inch wand you'll be fine as well.

2 inch wand will simply out perform 1.5 inch wand in any case in recovery and extraction making dry times significantly less( unless you have a badly design two inch wand)

Finally coming around myself.

We could use the extra vacuum this time of year when homes are cold/damp.
A lot of people wont turn heat on until last second.

I would think that in addition the glide will become the choke point.
Sorry, didn't see that Jimmy beat me to it.

Still you do get an improvement with the 2" wand.

Been Running Butlers for years.

Dump the whip. Go 2 inch.

You can also add 2.5 inch if you wanted a bit more, even if it is just 50 feet of 2.5 from the truck..

I have a reel with the 2.5 inch live hose, but don't really use it as a love reel.

Here is my YouTube Channel and lots of info on it. and also a video with my set up. First video is the set up, second link is to my channel.

Contact me with any questions. Always happy to try and help :)

All cleaning is a matter of degree.

My journey in becoming a far better cleaner than I used to be began by dumping my whip hose and going to a 2" wand (Westpak).

The other improvements I've made are too much to list here but it was a very important first step. Go for it, you won't look back (unless you are a weenie).

Next step...Zipper?????
Might be Russ, but I looked at them a long time before I did something.

It just fit what we were getting into lately for work.

If we get close enough someday, I will meet up with you with the van and a zipper so you can try.

Let me know when you are in MN next :) (uhmmmm....Beer is good....:) )

2" all the way here. I still carry the 1 1/2 scratch wand. And use it on occasion.

Using the Flash Cuffs I have an adaptor that pops right on for simple change up.

The 2" wand is Bigger, heavier and hard to get into really tight quarters with so I keep a junior wand handy.
