Assuming that you have nothing else to do, what will you charge for an hour of your time to let a sanitizer work?

I clean the carpet then I flood the carpet with gallons of product, let it sit an hour and then clean again. So $45.00 a gallon 1500 square feet carpet = 7 gallons $315.00 2 cleans and $315.00 so what do you charge? $1.50 a square foot then rent them 4 fans and a dehu $200 a day

Who will be the first chemical manufacture to come up with something more realistic?

Benefect or similar products work best when allowed to evaporate naturally. They usually don't leave any detrimental residue. On hospital surfaces they recommend wipe on and leave. Why should it be any different for carpets.

though I use the product regularly, I dont use it to sanitise carpet

by the sound of your job I'd be more inclined to clean the carpet with HP in your prespray, then fog the room and walk away

The carpet is still unsanitary.

I looks at is as the cost of doing business. My treatments say 10-20 minutes. UnDuzit says 1 hour (not realistic). But i've found they all work well.

What’s the product you suggest Jim?

A product on the “N” list that is labeled for use as a sanitizer on carpet and upholstery, and that has a shorter duration than Mike is facing.

There are several. The key is availability at this point.

Mike gets all the credit for reading the label and wanting to follow the directions, which is rarely being done, but must be.

There's instructions on the label? What's a label?

Are there any products on the N list indicated for use on carpet that do not require re-cleaning/extracting after applying?

I was already blessed to be in the disinfecting biz before it was cool. But now Jani King and Stanley, and even Home Depot Pro is getting into it of course. HD Pro is an AsepticHealth distributor now. They will ruin it, then get out.

It's a blessing in disguise.
I'd use the time to clean in-line filters, remove trapped lint inside SS upholstery tools, wands, jets, and glides
refill spray bottles.
organize/clean the van.

I use Pappy's to season my Santa Maria Tri Tip. Everyone shows up to the house if they hear I'm making it.
The neighbors hate me when they smell the Traeger going.
Oddly enough, it takes about an hour to cook.
