Shampoo or Dry Clean synthetic upholstered pieces instead of HWE?

No kids, no pets?
Low use, no TV in the room type situations?
When it's quicker than HWE?
When your hose wont reach?
When no one is looking?
My Mightydry broke so F it....

Two different questions:

Dry solvent clean? A mortal sin. Prepare to lose your air conditioned room in hell for that one.

Shampoo (as in shampoo, not encap)? A veniel sin. You leave a residue that could create skin discomfort, change of hand, protector ineffectiveness. If you put protector on a fabric you shampooed, the veneil sin becomes a mortal sin.

Encap? Go forth in peace my child. Encap followed by towel or microfiber cloth extraction with the aid of an orbital buffer is no sin at all. Fabric is left soft and with no residue of any consequence.

As a part of a maintenance program to freshen up, between HWE?

I could see maybe catching the arms and inside back, to improve appearance between extraction cleaning.

But then my destiny likely includes hell. 🤫

Your a professional trained expert on all phases of cleaning.
There is nothing moral about it.
You do what the fabric need to get the smiling results.
From your clients...
You think plumbers worry about how to fix.
Nah they just get it done.
A older dust covered sun exposed item .
Is treated differently then a new greasy fur covered microfiber chair.
Get paid an get referrals all you need to worry about...
This industry needs to be business minded.
Not apologetic...
Those days of going back over an over to apologize over there lack of maintenance is over...
This is 2021,not no clue what to do 76...
Lead...

The morality may be in what you charge and not in how you clean it. Encapsulation can do wonders and bring satisfied customers. Extracting upholstery uses a lot more equipment with more potential issues to prevent from happening. The time element can be much different as well. Charging the same is where the moral compass can be confused. Of course, if Jim Pemberton is doing it then you need to pay for his expertise in choosing the right method for the fabric.

It's not morally ok to dry clean synthetic upholstery. HWE only!

Don't forget that dry cleaning upholstery was solely for the purpose of delicate fiber like velvet. Quit being lazy. I know you can sell that type of service to anyone, but telling us is only gonna get you kicked in the balls.
