When your customer schedules their next appointment while your at their house, but 1 week away from that appointment they call and say they need you right now, and your already booked. They say they will have to find someone else, i say ok.
2 weeks pass along with their now canceled appointment.
1 week after their appointment they call you and are all nice and ask when you can come back over and clean again.

evidently the other guy he hired didn't fair so well on his specific problems.

you guys/ girls get this alot?

asking if you get people who schedule, then switch, only to call you back anyways.

I actually noticed that some, that do this, could be quite a chatterbox and won't be afraid to recommend you to others. (because they feel, they are in control)

And that doesn't mean the referrals will have the same attitude towards us.

Yes, this happens to me.

No, I'm not interested in dildos.

Call Reeko.
Hahahaha!!!!! Country boys are into that right?!

We have had it happen once in a great while, they usually will ask me if I know someone who will do a good job. I will refer them to one of the guys that we network with just for these situations. Mainly because I know that sometimes shit happens, and our customers are always willing to work with us when we need to either be late or even reschedule (which does happen once in a while). I have never lost a customer this way, they are thankful that we still got them taken care of one way or the other and they do refer us , not just for making sure they were taken care of but for being so easy to work with.
It helps when you have some guys that you network with whom you can trust to not try to steal your customers.
Of course there are some people who are just dildos...you can't worry about them.

Yep, this does happen. The worst is when it is a big job and they cancel the night before - and have been a past customer. You think they would be a bit more respectful of the time. Customer calls at 10:35pm to cancel for an 8am job the next day that we have 2 trucks scheduled to go to. Calls back and wants to re-book, I charge 50% deposit upfront for re-booking. One didn't want to pay it and said they would just call around. 2 days later they call back saying they are ready to give the deposit and book (because they just didn't have time to find someone else.. suree..). :)

I had an old lady call yesterday and reschedule today's job. She called today to see where I was. I told her she rescheduled and she got mad. I'll go see her tomorrow. Lucky for her I have time to get her in.
Me thinks there is a screw loose.

Lol!!!! I had someone do that once. She scheduled another company but kept calling around to find someone who could come sooner which turned out to be us. So she called what she thought was the other company and canceled, but it was us. When we didn't show up she called and I told her she canceled! She realized her mistake and told me what happened...we were able to take care of her the next day and she has been with us for quite some time now. We still laugh about it!

I have a few elderly that have that problem but when i look at the Drs appts they keep and the meds I know they are doing a better job than I could.
Plus they are so happy to see us.

Scott, these things happen. Clients have emergencies, schedule changes and circumstances that you may not be aware of.

And unless they are a pain kind of a client, I would not raise the price like Zee suggests. Treat them well and with respect as we all have different needs and circumstances.

Besides I have to be home to watch Judge Wopner or Jerry Springer. : )

I will put a note in the schedule about 3 weeks or so before the date we schedule to call and confirm if that day still works or if there is a better day.

Gives us all some lead time to get a day that works best for both of us

Both of your vans are booked solid Scott? That's the nice thing about having two vans, you can get to all those "can you do it today or tomorrow?" Type jobs.. If both of your trucks are booked, you need another van.

Besides the night before cancelation I have no clue how many times people call and reschedule(wife takes the calls, and writes the schedule).. I do get alot "Oh I'm so glad you could work with my schedule!" I really have no clue what they are talking about and just say "no problem"..

I never call to confirm an appointment unless they ask us to, I find when you call you are giving them a way out. I would say I get 1 or 2 jobs a year that no one is home when we get there..

I always call on the way over with an ETA. On the very rare occasion they forgot, I go get some coffee and then prospect for business.

There are some that are casual about appointments, but I don't care much. A cheerful attitude goes far and as some here have demonstrated, customers often come back. The other day one postponed, then today explained that a friend lost her son... This evening she emailed to accept my bid. Enough to keep five elves busy for three days.

Praise the Lord for that, we all are glad for the work.

two vans, but i run one and am training two other guys to work as a team on one of the vans. I've been dual wanding with the pro1200se and kicking ass on jobs and getting more done. As they become more skilled i will pull a Saiger and start killing jobs. Gearing up and training for spring time. its really not that far away, and i rather train now with a manageable schedule then in the spring when i don't have a second of extra time.

my on guy last night was with me at a very high profile clients house, he cleaned ground floor while i was cleaning the basement carpet. I snuck upstairs and watched him clean without him knowing i was there, and i can say hes gonna be awesome, was careful with clients things, made the correct dry passes.

but he was so worried he wore his booties all the way home last night. he gave them back to me this morning with a big smile on his face. said "yeah i wore these home" haha.
