Matt may have been our most successful temfs transplant.

Damon is off to a great start

Dev Tom figured it out faster then most.

I think Ladwigs was king for a day over there for a second. Maybe even Marty
Just kills me that Fjordking is at home there...so ironic..

Who else Matt?
Just lots of drama over there. But still some good guys to chat with. I've been so busy I wasn't really posting much. Now I have extra time because of SNOW!

I'm so glad I got my van yesterday. They had it parked in the parking lot and the temps are going to drop to the mid 20's. No way was I leaving it up there! My van is now safe and warm in my garage with the heater on a timer.

I'm hoping to build a garage this year that's heated to put my trailers and boat and vehicles in.

I relocated once. I sold Rochester Steam Way in Rochester Minnesota where I started in 1970 and sold in 1984. I had the distinction of using the steam method of cleaning since I started. No other cleaning company in Rochester had used the steam method as long. I used to advertise that we were the oldest in the area using steam.

We relocated to Antioch California and started Delta Steam Way about 5 months after buying a house in Antioch on our honeymoon. There was only a couple truck mounts in the area and they disappeared shortly after we arrived, leaving us as the oldest cleaners in east contra costa county using a truck mount. The area was small enough at the time to afford a phone book ad that would be profitable for a one truck operation. (Times have changed, eh?)

What helped me was a new wife and a new attitude. My first year grossed more than my best year in Minnesota. That was due to a number of factors, but the weather was better all year long in California, where as work would get mighty slow during the long winters in Minnesota.

I have been thinking of moving to Carson City Nevada to start another carpet cleaning business with a fancy new truck, Steam Way Powermatic and all! :)
Have you ever considered moving back home?

I'm thinking of moving back to this small town I'm from and would be closer to family. I'm just worried I would put all my competition out of business there, since its such a SMALL valley and people there are so picky and old. They would be amazed at dry carpets in 1 hour with eco-friendly products and stellar interpersonal skills. Good idea or bad idea? :shifty::biggrin::biggrin::lol:

Depends on your budget. Make an offer to purchase the customers on a few if those businesses if you've got money to play with. If not, how's the surrounding counties? Could you start a business next to them?

the lack of humidity would have those POS Host machines falling completely apart every two jobs.

HOST contacted me actually 2 days ago. Said they read the forum post I sent that about my complaint and are sending me 4 new motor covers which are normally 275$ a piece. I'm gonna spray the inside of them with bedliner. I'll be good to go.

...But don't worry, my focus will be on Tahoe, Reno and Sparks. You can have Gville, Carson and Dayton.

.. And Topaz Lake.

I started using host in the early 80s. My stepfather was the first company in corona to use the dry cleaning method. I hated it. Then we switched to the carpet mate brand of the ground up corn cob material. We also used the carpetmate machines. The process works good on clean carpet but dirty carpet cleaning is a challenge. I remember being in a closet with a screaming host machine, wow they were loud. I'm glad I don't use that process anymore.

They scream when the gears are going out. Otherwise they are pretty quiet. Babies and grandpas are fast asleep while we are cleaning right next to them.

No they were new machines. They may be more quiet now but most people hate that powder that remains after cleaning. My cimex cleans faster and dries quicker. No powder left.
