Mike really impressed me at the Atlanta gathering when I first met him

I was expecting to meet a prick from what I have been told 5years before I met him, and he was the opposite!!! I'm glad I met him with a neutral attitude that day

That opened my eyes how dishonest the "other" crowd was on the other forum.

I am sure that anyone who acquires this award would be deserving of it. And, for sure, anyone above, including the one and only, a real Legend in his time, jImMy!

However, Scott touched on it and reminded me of the fact that the History in this Industry has been somehow lost and swiped under the carpet so to speak. I realize that individuals come and go in this business and many of the old timers have either passed a long the way, or have since rode into the sunset. My point is this: Many of these original people who were the real Pioneers back in the 60's/70's who provided the missionary work , the foundation, the true innovators (not the copy-cats) been overlooked. Perhaps this was not by accident, rather it was by the passing of time and the "younger generation(s)". Too bad.

But, anyways, it was nice to walk down memory lane.

I had alway seen Bill Bane as "the enemy", as his articles in his newsletters often attacked high heat truck mounts, distributors, and other targets that I felt hit a little to close to home.

I then met him in person when he graciously accepted the invitation to speak at a trade show I was involved with. The criticism we received for inviting him was stunning. Other manufactures treated us like we had invited Satan himself to speak.

I found him to be funny, charming, and humble. His presentation was inspiring and generous to all parties in our industry.

In his last years we struck up a friendship via emails that I will always treasure.

We will not see the like of him again

He had a series of cassette tape programs in the 80's. That one was about how to handle incoming calls, not telemarketing, to be clear.

He never talks about things he used to do though. He has no rear view mirror in his outlook on life.

He is always ahead of his time. Back then I made scripts flip charts like the examples he had in the program. While they never answered it exact, it gave them reference. It worked well.

It's hard not to give Ralph Bloss first place. I met him back when he was not the owner but just worked for Steam Way International (International Equipment Inc. back then) As a Steam Way Distributor for several years, saw quite a bit of him. Always so generous! You never paid for a meal. He always would insist on picking up the tab. Just a genuine caring man.

I have also enjoyed Doyle over the years. Some of his dad in him for sure.

Went for sfs and here is this old timer who owns the place hanging out/serving us Lasagna for lunch. Place is going nuts making money/super busy and he's chilling with the class, as his business runs like a top with out him really needing to do anything.
