At the risk of being almost as retarded a question as "What's your favorite pre-spray?", I'm asking.

The criteria for this is:

1. The site that sells the best on message to their target customer type

2. Best looking

3. Most consumer friendly

4. The best tile, stone and grout section

Post the links to your choices and explain why.

None of the above even matters if they don't also have great visabilaty.

A lot of great looking sites are invisable by not being on the front page, top of fold..

Why do you take my comments so personally?

I nominate this site:http://www.carpetcleaningvictoria.org/

Really Great looking site!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even though It's a "bit" hard to find with a Victoria search.

(If that is your desired target area?)

Yoakum a little strange...you bet....retarded...no way. Think he is spot on on his analysis of the importance of a web presence. As the world spins faster and faster towards a digital low touch future. The OO with customer relationships, that is probably now booked out as far as the eye can see will probably have it a bit easier than those battling it out over web presence, regardless of how "best" it is.

Hi Steve. I'm acutely aware of the importance of SEO but we have lots of threads on that subject and really want to see a quality focused discussion on website content.

Yes it is a good site. http://www.stanleysteemer.com

I'm a fan of all the services to be clickable and discriptive above the fold on the front page. Also like the estimate widget.

Any of you guys have your site optimized for viewing on smart phones?

Not sure who has my favorite. I'll have to look around the board more.

Hard to remember all the sites I've seen.

I was going to run a contest on the best site on this board...just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I forgot the "why" part

Simple, appealing to women, not too clutter, nice use of photos....and just all around pretty.

Re: Who in our industry do you think has the best website &

Remember that the purpose of web page is not necessarily to be pretty or have a lot of flash pictures.

The only reason for a website is to move the sale along.

Some things to consider:

Are the important things like the phone number and a way for e-mail communication on the top of fold?

(Remember that 95% of prospects will never get past page 1.)

Can the prospect make a rapid. But, somewhat informed decision without to much reading?

(The sale needs to be made in just a second or two.Clients don't have all day to hunt and peck around your site.)

Do the pictures supplement the text to make reading less or or they just fluff?

Does it flow well?

Stick a short testimonial on page 1.
(You saying you are the best doesn't mean squat to a prospect. A testimonial or 2 will carry a lot more weight than a cleaner's puffery.)

Put yourself in your client's eyes. You have a million other things to do other that choosing a cleaner. Kids are screaming in the back. Or you are at a work computer during hours and you are not supposed to be looking at this site and you can't talk with all the co-worker around

Decisions have to be made fast, in just a couple of seconds and all that is necessary has to be readily available without clicking or scrolling.

The easier you make it for the client the more clients you'll have.

Ease of transaction is very important.

Re: Who in our industry do you think has the best website &

i need to update mine..i have not really done anything with it in a while.
i get lots of customers from it but never work the web site..i consider it
more of a deal sealer or a way for my customers to learn a bit more about
our company than a way to directly get business.

Ditto. And that's why ours in line for a major overhaul.

"Pretty" is good for confirming you're the right choice for someone that's referred to you, but I want our site to work harder to reach out grab people.

I thought Surdi had a good site....but I think he went and changed it up. Looks cluttered now.

Maybe they are different sites?

When some thing smells that bad I wonder why it still attracts flies... er.. a .. newbies?

Guess they don't know .... from shine-ola.

I do wonder how they make so much money with SEO. When their own companies placement in Google Places sucks so bad?

See for yourself:

http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=n ... a+beach+va

http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=n ... a+beach+va

Some moderate SEO knowledge ( that can be easily found with a free internet search or on this board) should be able to at least get it up to page one.)

Not much to brag about as far as I can see SEO wise.

Pretty site though.
