wow!
Thats pretty cool Jeff.

Can we see inside please?

Sorry, that was several years ago, lost a lot of pic's because of a computer crash so I don't have any pictures of the inside, also had a yellow bug.

You can get a lot more stuff in the back of the bug with the seats down than you would think. In the trailer from what I remember are chem's, pads, towels, stair tool, tools/brushes ect. upholstery tools.

In the bug, an op, spot extractor, vacuum, groomer, electric sprayer, I probably left some things out.

This was a set up for residential cleaning.

Well I have the vw in a trailer. and honestly that is what keeps me from using it more. I started with a trailer and in all honesty it was perfectly fine, I had my PC Legend in a 6 x 10 trailer.
I didn't realize till the FIRST JOB with my setup in my van, HOW HARD I WORKED with a trailer, from the moment you pull in to park the trailer set up the job difficulty shoots up.
Today I have accounts that I landed when I started and if I had to use a trailer again I would more than likely drop them just because of how hard it would be to park and set up.
The nice thing about the trailer is access to the TM itself very easy to work, Smells and odors not driving with you in the cab. I would have to say the VAN is to this job like Jelly is to a peanut butter sandwich.

The pillowcase looking thing is a clean rag sack. The buckets are used to haul water and other things. I use one for dirty rags and towels, one of them is the trash can, etc...

On the right you can see the electric heater 12 volt then below it is the solar charge controller and below it is a 55 amp automatic deck charger. I plug it into 120 and it charges the batteries. The heater pulls 30 amps and the charger can put out 55 so even if the heater were to be running all night on a really cold night, the batteries would still get a charge.

The wands for the pump up sprayers clip nicely on the edge of the shelf. There is a meter that tells me the voltage of the batteries and the state they are in, this also connects to a charge controller for some solar panels. There is a thermostat that goes to the electric heater and a motion sensor for the lights. Also have an electric jack on the front of the trailer.

Please post your thoughts. Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions. Thanks!

Anyone else use those little $15 pump up sprayers from home depot? I bought some 8004 jets from Olsen and they fit nicely as a replacement for the crappy plastic ones that come with these. Puts out probably twice the water now too, so that should speed things up. Used to take forever to prespray with these to get enough juice down. I'll be testing things later today to see how they do.

I kinda like the idea of using an enclosed trailer to pickup area rugs only.
I thought of using a trailer but I have been using a SUV setup with the following;

Mytee ltd5 (runs out of SUV upright)
Generator to run two cords from mytee 5
Hot turbo heater
Air hog (also has apo)
No tanks, utilize apo and af (toilet/faucet)
*keep 25 gallon of water in case
Oreck orbiter (my 175). Does great!!!!
Water otter for tile and grout, hard surface
Wands, upholstery tool, stair tool, broom, vacuum, rake, etc
Chemical ( carry larger portions what I need for day and smaller portions of other)
Towels, rags, etc
Brochures, invoices, biz cards.

There is a guy with a truckmount in town and I blow him away, no lie. It's the personal touch, customers like the idea of a custom set up that is a little different for every home. Sometimes I use some, sometimes I use all!!!!

My set up with vac booster I can run 150 feet of hose easy and not lose anything. Haven't tried more than that.

My 2 cents anyway!!!!!!!

Oreck, 370's, red handles, and now trailers. Mike, did you fall and hit your head?

Edit: Sorry, I didn't realize this was a 2015 thread someone pulled up so they could brag about their Mytee air hog being pulled around in a trailer. But I still think you hit your head.

One of my friends worked for a competitor for awhile and they had one of their TM's in a trailer. He said they were on their way to a job one day and their trailer passed them. :eekk:

He said they were lucky and it only ended up tearing up someone's front yard.
I had that happen to me once with a canoe I had strapped to the hood of my Ford Bronco.

I run out of a trailer because of my floor care, building service contractor. I have portys that I can take from location to location when necessary, but there’s no way they’re as efficient or powerful as my truckmount. But to each his own. By the way, I run a 6/14 tandem, and a 4/6 single axle, and will prolly be getting another 12 or 14 footer.

I have had same system for a long time and it's just more beneficial for me. I do agree some truckmounts are more powerful but again it all relates to who is running the truckmount. Power doesn't mean that a good job is being done. The tech makes that!!!!

Nope...I'm still in agreement on any new guys starting up with a trailer. I think pulling a trailer is a great idea when you're new in the business. Several reasons:

-Low on startup funds. Most of us had either a truck or SUV, and couldn't afford to have two vehicles. So buying a setup in a trailer is the most affordable way to jump in this business.
-They're not as busy as an established business. Which makes is more tolerable to pull a trailer. They busier you get, you should have the funds to invest in a van or box truck to be more efficient.
-The business might be multi service business, such as Window cleaning, Pressure washing, Stripping and Waxing, etc. So having the extra room in the trailer is a plus, and if you're doing another job besides carpet cleaning, you won't need to bring your carpet cleaning setup. That's the way my business was when I first started.

Let's face it, most of us didn't have $25k just sitting in the bank waiting to spend it on a carpet cleaning setup. Nor were we able to afford financing that in a new business, because the credit was at the bottom of the totem pole. So the best way to do that was to find a trailer setup.

But like I said above, when the time comes after the business is booming, it'll be time to update the look, make it more professional, and be easier, and after for an employee to drive a van/box truck.

You'll have a more efficient, and happier tech when he has more power, and the machine is doing most of the work. The smaller the machine, the more muscles are working on the tech.
-More steps, walking and process
-More time
-More headache (looking for the correct power outlet)
