I took my boy to work with me today. We burned the bridge we had with the daycare center he was staying at while we were working. Those idiots wouldn't let him bring his lunch anymore, because of some baby getting an allergic reaction from a toddler eating their lunch beside him. So we told them they just lost our business if he can't bring a healthy lunch from home.

Anyway, after that unimportant paragraph that you just read...I let him prevac the carpet at a job with me today. He loves the Royal. Who's the pansy with the Sharky? :marty:

Making that poor kid use that boat anchor. How about a better more efficient vacuum?

I wish the Royal had more of a micro pile height adjuster. The steps can sometimes be too dramatic.

I picked up a 2nd unit that was missing the pedal adjuster so I jerryrigged this "micro" adjuster..

Great vacuum
We agree! The Sanitaire belts last all week with heavy use and are very easy to quickly change...under a minute. And it's beautiful! A new belt is a buck fifty if purchased one at a time. A buck each in bulk. I also love the accessories magnet bar that picks up all the little nails and paper clips before they reach the beater bar. Oh,and a 16 inch vacuum path!

You obviously have not used a Sani in a while.

Belts go bad REAL quick, sometimes in ten feet or less.

I know that vacuum in and out Bob, back in the day I sold and assembled over 150 of them to my clients.

You are right about that. I have the Eureka version for the house but we are about 85% tile so it gets almost no use. Funny how you get attached to things.... I loved the Sanitaires back when we were hard at it. Were very reliable and could take a beating. I Love the red and chrome. :icon_cool:

We have 5 of those Sani Commercial Vacs and vacuum all day with without belts breaking. Host, damp carpet and all. Sometimes they to 3 to 4 days without a belt breaking. They are cheap to like .95c and easy to change. Keep them in the glove box on all the trucks.

I was going to buy them for the Van anyway... thank you for posting! I always had an extra belt figure eighted around the handle. I like how they look and the wide one with the magnate is great for doing the real estate turn overs.

First they stretch, then they crack and then they break.

I havent met a homeowner yet that can tell that the roll isnt spinning once the brushes hit the carpet

And only a few cleaners....

Give me a break. It's obvious when a beater bar isn't spinning... we aren't going to agree on this one. I used it for 20 plus years with no issues and since someone who is currently using them confirms my experience... end of discussion. Enjoy your boat anchor.

I have no problems with my 20 year old Kirby which I only use for vacuuming mattresses one handed.

I got this after I broke my leg & was told I'd "never clean another carpet in your life" by an Orthopedic surgeon.

Proved him wrong.

Maybe I am a wimp at 71.

That looks very similar to a product called a hygenie clean or something like that on this side of the pond. They sell you a franchise cleaning and sanitizing mattresses with a vac and uv light combo

The Kirby and Royal are awesomely powerful machines. I believe somewhere I've seen somebody use a piece of neoprene belt to replace the rubber one on Sanitaire vacuums. Made it a lifetime component.

But for dirt recovery the hammer head direct fan vacuums have the best sustained performance because the belt wears at a reasonable rate but still delivers fantastic on carpet torque and agitation.

Quite possible, the machines are/were made in Europe and distributed with the Kirby vacuum.

I bought mine before the guy started selling a franchise.

Right place at the right time sort of thing. :winky:
