Daniel, the 50 year one is the one that includes the radioactive waste left over from 'three mile island.'

It will practically last forever :p

And no Gene, with other people you may be right, but......
No, he is not joking, he is Daniel!

Seeing how it lasts like 50 years and never needs cleaning.

the only way acrylic would last even FIVE years is if no one ever walked on it....including the cAt

acrylic carpet is junk, Dan..straight up JUNK

the only people that get 50 years out of it are the ones that hung their Elvis tapestry rUgs on the wall

Pic coming of a green acrylic Sears carpet installed in the 60s, never cleaned, and spotless. The people wore shoes and had a dog. I mean no traffic patterns at all. The only reason it was pulled up is the hardwood under it was in great shape.

Acrylic is not a popular choice of carpet any longer because it wears out quickly. Thus, while acrylic carpeting may be cheaper to purchase initially, it often must be replaced sooner, which negates the cost savings.

I cleaned a lot of those in the early 80's and they were already old.

Acrylic never wears out, it just uglies out.

Never cleaned in 40 plus years.

A nylon or poly carpet would have been toast in 10 years.

Just saying.

Not even one spot or traffic pattern.

Sure the carpet was dirty but not visibly dirty.

It actually didn't look that bad when it was down.

My brother bought this home and decided to check the hardwood.

Well as you can see the hardwood throughout the home is in great shape.

I still have a couple customers with that carpet.
And still no traffic areas.

Are you sure the carpet isn't nylon and has the wrong label on it. Or the customer is too senile to remember that it was in the attic and was just installed last year? 100% acrylic with normal wear would have been flat as concrete in the traffic areas, if not worn through to the backing.

it is still used today in some manufactureing of certain wool pieces to create blends and to lower costs. In a loop configuration they do tend to wear well.. and they also hide the soil well.. mostly because the soil tends to spread out.

here is an old karastan acrylic rug.. came out pretty well for being 44 years old:

the fiber tends to hold alot of soil.. dropped about 7 lbs just from this 2x4.
