http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sapphire-Scientific-870-Truckmount-ONLY-370-HOURS-/151083829460?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item232d4c48d4 If Im not mistaken isn't there a guy on here from tampa who just got a brand new 870? I bet this is his unit, whats the chances of an 870 from the same metro area with under 400hours on it ending up on ebay for sale? If so wonder why he is selling, that set up he had in the sprinter van made me drool it was pretty sweet.
Who cares what his problems are? That's a sweet machine. One of my high school classmates showed up at our 10 year reunion as a woman. Had a complete sex change operation. I had no idea he would do such a thing. People are unpredictable and their circumstances are ever-changing.

not sure what the "chances" are but there are at least two recent threads with 870 installs........

probably a few more running around tampa.........
I think there is a jon don in tampa so I imagine there a several sapphires running around. I just figure that would be a coincidence. You don't see that many everests for sale with low hours let alone in the same town

We had a customer who tried a Transit Connect with small TM & no hose reel.

His employees wanted the full size vans with hose reels so much . . .

that the Transit always developed a problem . . .

to keep it out of commission.

High MPG vans are coming.

He claims 2 gallons per hour, My friend says the money he is saving now on gas will pay for the connect set up. He put almost 400 hours on the 870ss in less than 3 months. This guy cleans from sun up to sun down 6 days a week.
He also did not like how much fresh water it wasted dumping it to the waste tank.

Why would a modern TM be doing that ? ?

That is wasting HX production.

I love my new sprinter and 870SS. When we're dual wanding on high I'm getting 2 gallons a hour but when I'm cleaning solo the machine is on medium and it's about 1.75 gph. I'm getting about 17 mpg with the new Mercedes turbo diesel. I couldn't be more happy with my new setup.

Larry he was running a monster TM using a low flow wand. So even when he was dumping water he had insane temps. My 870ss doesn't dump fresh water but I'm running a 12 flow ti wand.

what was he doing....running it wide open....you can throttle these machines down to a medium speed....still all the suction you will ever need....and save gas....wide open is more a duel wand mode...

Mine was dumping excessively, found the bypass valve wore out quickly... This "manual bypass is used to cool down, or to clean delicate fabrics"
Now I just use a "courtesy hose to cool down."

Actually Jim, "wide open" would be more for triple wanding... Maybe someone wanting to run all out, for dual wanding... I have used mine on high, but only to test temps ATW. no need...

On the 870 there is a 10 gallon thermal well that preheats the water to 165 before it goes to the water pressure pump and then to the heat exchangers. They do not want the water hotter than 165 going to the pump so there's a 165° thermal relief valve that will open up and dump into waste tank. This hasn't been a issue for me at all but I run a hi flow wand.

When I first got mine I would open my by-pass to help cool it down...and it dumps into the waste tank...now I just throw a hose on the ground and use it to circulate water threw it and cool it down

Dumping water is so old school, just like my old PC bruin would do.

I hated it for that reason too.

Jim, that's the same way I cool mine down as well. My machine is usually at 300 degrees by the time I get out there to turn it off.

So the hose on the ground dumps 165 plus degree water when needed instead of dumping it into the waste tank..hmmm not sure I like that if I'm understanding it right

No, I use the courtesy hose to cool the machine down when I finish the job. I'm not dumping while cleaning.

Dave,
The ONLY time I use this hose, is when heating up, to mix chems in the hydroforce, then when shutting down to cool the water in the water box...

The hose in the top QD is a cut off "courtesy hose" Always there to fill containers or cool down. Beats the wear and tear on the valve. Or Standing there holding trigger on the wand til it cools...
