I've thankfully never run across silk or leather on rugs and I'm not sure how you can clean it but I would imagine it's going to be very little to no moisture?
Or with a fine fabric prespray and an upholstery tool?! :shifty:

There are lots of woolsafe products you can use. No heat on silk, you may cause it to mat. Biggest problem is that you leave wet rugs on the hardwood floor. Encap with a brush pro if the rugs will tolerate the agitation.

That would be my concern is the heat, so if it were me, I'd use a portable with the UPH tool.
As for the brush pro, I'd be afraid!

I'd go a low moisture route. Encap using Brush Pro and Encapuclean Green or Encapuclean O2 to brighten the white. When diluted per l;abel directions, the encaps with peroxide are not potent enough to harm wool or silk. Could also use the Brush Pro Dry Powder.

we have a customer that has a wool silk blend and it was trashed. I told her i'm not supposed to agitate it but thats the only way to get it clean. I told her if she was willing to take the risk I will give it my all. She said ok because the only other option is replacement.

I sprayed it with Procyon, scrubbed it with a cimex then extracted. It came out like new. Now have customer for life.

I tried a silk rug years ago and basically ruined it. It was turned into a door mat so she didn't care. I won't clean pure silk in the house any more after that. I'm a quick learner.

I can't think of any thing your missing. I think you are good to go. I usually use painter's canvas drop clothes instead of plastic. I use the Prochem fine fabric in the shop, works beautiful.

BRAUN Brush sells a carding brush for rugs that is more than twice the size of the normal velvet carding brush. The work great for carding rugs or you can use without a handle and finish velvets in half the time. I love it for upholstery.
