I was checking in at the military base showing the head fix it guys some pictures of some crazy stuff I did In Mono Lake yesterday and he stops me been sentences wait a minute yesterday was Tuesday why the **** ain't you working

And unfortunately me being me before I could check myself I said "Dude, working is for schleps"..


This dude busts his ass 60 hours a week down here for 16.95 plus shitty benefits an hour.

It is a good reminder that all work has value. Also we all need to remember our roots and that careers are progressive. Being raised on the farm I had a lot of experience with manure (chicken, hog, horse, cattle) and hay bales. One of the greatest gift from my parents in retrospect was being raised poor without being bothered by it.

What you've forgotten is at one time that was you working that hard. You made better money but it was still a pretty callus response. It sounds like you didn't intend to offend him, but you did and hopefully you apologized to him.

People tend to judge others by what they have or the job/position they hold. Here its education, it doesn't matter what you make, if you don't have the education.

It's all wrong, people should be judged by "who they are" not what they have. Judged by how they treat others, especially those that have a job or position beneath themselves.

Having money, a good job, nice house, nice wife, toys doesn't make anyone a better person automatically. The better person treats everyone equally or doesn't judge them until they get to know them.

Sorry to preach but it's a pet peeve of mine. People always ask "What do you do for a living?" I suppose so they know how much respect they have to give you.

Easy there tiger he and I have had countless political discussions talks about upper management there on the base family discussions neighborhood gossip and all the rest, we are fine.


He also knows the whole story about green Glides and how the military base is pretty much responsible for creating the brush Glide and he's quite interested in the whole thing and asks me numbers all the time
