Would a Stanley hire a failed owner op?

The question should also be asked in reverse: Would an O/O hire an ex-Stanley employee? (CJ excluded).
And the answer is most likely- NO. At least from my one such experience, which, however, seem quite common.

As they need two separate training- 1) Unlearn what they did with SS (both work and attitude wise.)
2) Learn how to clean properly.

Any service business is difficult to grow past a certain point. The layers of management and supervision needed to maintain decent product quality quickly eat away at profit.
Some of the guys that have been very successful OO businessmen here, might have been rockstars in some of the major Franchises.
Systems and brand recognition are amazingly powerful things.
That’s why I don’t really agree with the “Black van” idea. I don’t think that level of service scales up the same way. You might love a certain pizza place where the owner lovingly oversees every detail. But to turn that into a scalable model that still makes money after you add the layers of management and quality control..... usually doesn’t work. The best restaurants I’ve been to have never been franchises. But I’ve still had excellent food and service at a major franchise restaurant. And that business model works for them.

As an OO I see it sometimes worthwhile talking to a client and having a coffee for half an hr, if that was a tech I'd tend to see it as lost production and time theft..

I know of 1 local trucking firm that consistently tests one of ther ol boys "randomly" as they know he will pass.

He's just retired and thinks its funny they'll have to have there 1st legit drug test in 3 yrs

This is why i have this diversity in my business to stay afloat. Bundle service is the way to go. I pretty much now do majority of the home community for 55+yr old only. Avg condo price is $400k+...there is over 300 units... Doing windows, upholstery, carpet, and bathroom restore now... hopefully this is gonna be a good year for me.

Last machine shop I worked at I failed the drug test, they hired me anyway. Same as a factory in Utah that moved me and the family there.

Of all our employees, we don't have any who were owner operators. Oops, I take that back, one of our commercial sales guys was an O/O.

We typically don't hire anyone with prior cleaning experience as we prefer to home grow them. Right now our newest crew leader has been with us for 10 years. The last I checked, the average seniority of our crew leaders with our company is around 20 years.

Not if I was doing the scheduling. Half hour to the first then 3 hours working. Then 15 minutes to the next for 2 hours and another 15 minutes to the last job for another 2 hours then maybe 15 home again.

Or something like that. Should be doing $800 to a grand a day.

Of course I won't work that hard every day, maybe 3 or 4 days.

When I used to manage large staff numbers the dopers and soaks didn't worry me too much as long as it wasn't at work or impact there work (it still came up as problem from time to time) if i suspected pingers or tweakers then they got spot tested by mobile van clinic, no way they were going to there car they didn't know they were getting tested till they got tapped on the shoulder
