ok for the last few years I have been using version 27 of xactimate. for me it was simple quick and easy, almost like IOS 7 for apple. I have had adjusters recently want alot more ESX files and they had trouble pulling them into their program because 27 still uses base service charges. So I upgraded to version 28, holy crap. Talk about a cluster f, I would be interested if I am the only one that thinks version 28 absolutely sucks. its so bad I actually uninstalled and loaded version 27.5 back on my machine. the problem now is all the estimates I backup AGAIN after loading them into 28 can't go back on my machine and into version 27.5 anymore even though they started out as version 27 estimates. good ness I sure wish xactware had a legitimate competitor

Hey Steve,

I've heard some similar comments about 28. Hopefully Chavez can shed some light.

Why can't they go back onto 27 did 28 change them somehow?

I'm actually not sure which version we use. ??? I think its 27 but I'll ask.

We're going through a small run of rain losses (16-losses) from Sunday, so it may be a day or two.

So I guess if I'm going to learn xactimate, I should learn the version 28?
I really don't know what to tell you. all previous of xactimate before 28, play around with the program for a while and you could get by training yourself along with maybe watching a video. v28 has bout 85% the same function. so its not like you have to relearn everything. The problem is just using the thing. tech support has admitted known defects with the copy and paste function in particular, it works but you must paste it move out of the room then come back to see its been pasted. That is actually one of my most common functions I use. alot of things repeat room to room. The other is the layout and view if you hit a wrong button your view completely f's up and you must go and reset the view. tech support also admitted this was a flaw. the other issue with the view is they have the depreciation area above the quick entry that takes up a ton of very very vital space where you can see the line items you just entered. since there are 2 profiles that can be selected contractor and carrier I asked them why we don't have views that are customized to each user. I never depreciate anything that is an adjuster function, but its wasted vital space. The other is the program just feels clunky and slow. I actually uninstalled it and went back to version 27, after doing 2 estimates in 28, I did one on a version 27.5 again. it was litterly like jumping into a ferrari from a school bus. things just worked. I pray for the day these guys have some competition. Version 28 has been out for 2 years and they still haven't improved it.
