I've done similar with pvc fittings.

The ones sold with permanent insulators have never lasted long enough to justify the cost.
Every one I've owned started leaking well before a "regular" QD...no clue why..but they never have and we stopped using them years ago

That looks like a good idea. When you do it enough you get fast working with bare brass, the helpers not so much, yipping and yelping to high heaven.

I don't understand the need .
If your machine got hot you would. We have one at the control panel so you don't burn yourself disconnecting and one on each lead line so you can easily switch tools.

I have to wonder if Cu and Deron were instructed to drop a Cutie covered QD on the pavement 2000 times from waste level and 20 times from 1st floor balcony level...
