Killer dude. Good job. A damp rag on the on the hand where you're holding the hose will clean it up pretty good.

I don't know yet what my next project will be... Right now I'm getting ready for spring and am going to be throwing alot of money into ads. Next winter I'll be doing something but... have all summer to think about that.

Prices:
Switch-36.00
Fuse-13.00
Motor-230.00
Solinoid-23.00
Had the plate made for 15.00
Sprockets-50.00
Nuts bolts and chain maybe 20.00
My dad had all the wire so that was free..

Total came to about $400.00

Great job sharing your descriptions, costs and photos. Thank you.

I have found with my power reel it is easier to wipe and guide my hose with 2 hands.

I have a pressure switch with a foot bulb I step on that actvates the reel instead of a hand held or hard mounted switch, cost less than $15.00 at Lowes.

So basically what you're saying is, it take you two hands and a foot to do what most of can do with a hand?

Great idea John! I think the foot pedal would be an advantage!

I knew you couldn't be as dumb as you look! :p

I had the idea mentioned to me but I thought I would be able to move around more with the hand switch... I think I'll go with the foot switch down the road.. At $15.00 might be sooner then later.. thanks

Keith;

We use a 1/4 HP hi-efficiency DC motor and chain drive components to convert vac reels to electric.

Motor is slightly over $300 plus sprokets and chain.

1/5 horse for $230 is plenty(though I could always use more power).. You have to figure in the switch, breaker ( and yes you want a breaker instead of a fuse), and the rest listed above.

Still running like champ, no problems so far.
