I am not making this post to be gross....and apologize,

But wanted to make the post in an attempt to help educate with this type of situation, and what procedure we took to clean up....

First of all...protect yourself....

We also tell people who call and are embarrassed about situations such as this (even though this is extreme) that we get this call quite often, and we will get it all taken care of...No Problem!

There is something to be said about getting this done, and allowing them to start healing.

This is a case of alcohol abuse...nicest person in the world, just fighting the alcohol demons....and this is the third visit for situations of varied nature in the past Year and a half....

So with that, here is the procedure we used IN THIS PARTICULAR SITUATION (and there can be many variables) to remedy this.

The situation was a lot on Top of the Surfaces (carpet and upholstery and bedding) or we would maybe recommend replacement in more difficult to fix situations.

For this one, we used CTI''s OSR in bucket, pour on let dwell little bit, water claw, OSR treat again and let dwell and oxidize for 15 minutes or so while doing other work... Sometimes we will also try to wand and rinse off more of the mass...it is a judgment call really....

Water claw again well and then we applied Harvard Pet Stainoff enzyme.. Smells like Bubble gum, and clean from there.

Peroxide such as Bridgepoint Stain zone if needed on any remaining stain and leave to work.

Wish the clients the best and health and well being for their future....it does seem to give them the feeling that you care (and we are sincere about caring)

Sorry again for the pics, but just wanted to show what you might run into...

This was our last job before the Christmas break...made us think a lot....and be thankful.

So how do you guys price for these kind of situations? They don't often take that long, and often not a lot of area is in need of being cleaned...so I've got a 145 minimum...but struggle with pricing these situations out.

We charge our normal rate of .38 cents per sq foot, per linear foot of couch cleaning this one was $100 giving a discount, mattress cleaning for us tops and sides of a queen we get $80, the OSR treatments we charged $15 per treatment which is about 2 gallons using about 6 scoops per container($30) and the pet treatment we would have received another $20 for, but again, we were doing well enough with what we were making and didn't charge for that....

the total bill with Tax (6.875% for the State) it came to just shy of $350.

Time wise, we try to make $200-$250 per hour per van, and we were here about 1.5 hours, so we were close to our desired rate.

I always feel a bit sorry for these situations though...

Have had a few that were really small situations (for elderly going through some medical treatment), and just showed up, took care of it and wished them well....

Best advertising you could say as people do talk to their friends about how well they have been treated.

That's exactly how we handle these situations. OSR and a claw can be your best friend. By the way, I got that Harvard Pet spray and love it!

Nice work Mark. That hourly rate is based on...TM run time...Turn in driveway to turn out?

TM run time for us but also, we do consider it more once we hit the drive to back out of the drive.

But with that rate, it does help me when looking to bid larger jobs too (TM run time on site concept)

Jeff, that video is straight to the point. Good job.

Do you guys ever worry about saturation loads running between subfloor panels to soak the downstairs ceilings? I tend to pour from a gallon jug, from outside to the center. Then I worry a bunch, then I claw it out again.

I only do this in the basement with a cement sub floor. A wood subfloor with MDF wood the floor will swell . so in a case like that I pull the pad and put plastic down first and with PVC I make a bath

Yes you do have to worry about the potential for damage a level below.

We usually pour a little on just to get to the pad and extract... Or if leaving to dwell again only enough to saturate to the pad and touch the sub floor... That means you might have to do more than one application to get it out but you can also keep the water claw in place and flush around it too

I would flush those types of contaminants thoroughly with my RV StairPro prior to the addition of any chemical cocktails. Oversaturation in any form is against my line of thought. You could probably reduce your solution usage by a large margin.
Who hasn't handled a job like that, whether it be feces, urine or blood?

That is true...I did forget to mention that we did remove what we could first as you have described....we actually wanded off some of the mass first...

Very good comment that I should have made...Thank you...

What would a VLM'r do...

TLC and peroxide Soak into padding bounce some gray microfiber pads and then glad pads. Many many jobs done with no odor when done because the silver and peroxide kill bacteria.
First photo is feces. Then Urine Then other goodies

Joel
Couple questions.

What TLC product are you using and home many oz per gal?

Are you mixing peroxide with the TLC or applying separately?

What type (cream or liquid) and volume peroxide are you using?

Thank you

Hi Brad

If you only want to use pre mixed products that are labeled for carpet cleaning than do not use TLC and peroxide. This mix is not approved by the industry.
I use it because of the results I have been getting for many years.

I have had success on many many jobs when I use:
TLC and a 3% mix of peroxide on natural fibers that are white----I would not use peroxide on dark natural fibers, synthetic carpet can handle 3% even with dark colors

On fabric in video I used a 3% mix of peroxide----detonator from vacaway ( 10 oz to a gal ) and straight TLC abstraction cleaner from TRSorg, com with 2 oz of encap green for polymer in a 32 0z spray bottle
Half bottle of 3% and half bottle of TLC and 2 oz of encap green

I use TLC --- straight--and detonator straight on mildew on 100%olefin fibers and grout---------http://trsorg.com/blog/bio-based-cleaning-chemicals-with-bacteria-removing-colloidal-silver/

After reading about colloidal silver I found a company that mixes peroxide and silver to kill all types of micro organisms but they can not label their product for carpet in the US only hard surfaces----like ALL the other companys selling carpet products no claims are allowed
The company sells silver and peroxide that is labeled for use with carpet with instructions for dilution is in switzerland---sanosil AR
http://www.sanosil.com/pdf/scl/sclp05en-sanoclean-ar.pdf
http://www.sanosil.com/sanosil-disinfectant-basic-knowlege.htm

On carpet---------------------
If you use any type of OSR product it also works and they also can not claim they remove bacteria and you can not claim you remove bacteria with steam

Nice job Mark, important to make client feel at ease. I've had my share of these over the last 30 years or so, one of my worst is a home birth. Mattress was a write off but we managed to save the carpet. Thank God for the water claw. Maybe we should start a thread on worst job ever.

I have had 2 more calls today for situations similar to this today.... And a third one due to throw up. They have it in control until I get to them tomorrow. Just told them to put a damp towel over what is remaining and I will fix it tomorrow.

Also, told them this has been very common past few days... Really common!
